Hehe u take the opposite view because you have only been on here for a month and everything has gone smoothly so far. What I mean is when you're on here for a long time and let's say it seems like it's been taking about 4-5 months from transfer to havana up until now but when it goes past that time people start getting worried and thinking the worst about their application...it happened to me at the begginging...when everyone's AOR and SA was talking 1 month and mine took like 3.... That's when this forum can start getting stressful and you need to step away.
I temper all my expectations with statistics. I know that application times will take a Poisson distribution, and that my own time is independent of everyone elses. I've had lots of issues in the past with anxiety, so I feel I'm well equipped to deal with the worry rationally. We'll see how well that self-analysis pans out by the fall.

Newgirl and I both have our hubbies here- so when we comment it is because we are both well aware of the emotional rollercoaster waiting for immigration can be!

I wish at the time I DIDNT stress half as hard as i did ... but i did because that is how i deal.

I spoke to people on this forum almost everyday and at times we needed to step away from the updates and the complaining and the heartache because it only made it worse for us! you start to look at everyone else's progress and wonder WHAT ABOUT ME? It is normal behaviour.

Good luck to you and hopefully you don't suffer half as hard as we did. I wish I had an anti anxiety tactic back 5 months ago! I could have used it! haha

hello ;)

Hi everyone im so glad i found this forum and this post especially. I have started this journey to sponsor my Cuban fiance and am happy to find that many are in the same shoes im in and have gone through this complex process. I am 28 and live near Toronto and my Cuban fiance is 30 and lives in Guardalavaca , near Holguin. We will get married that the end of this month (may) I have all my papers here in order and legalized by the cuban consulate so im ready to go. I also began filling out and printing off the sponsorship application and will bring it with me also at the end of may so that she can fill out her sections. I know i need the medical exam and police background check before submitting my application so we are just trying to organize everything and figure out the best way to go about this all . So far i am planning to go down and get married in Holguin , my mother and grandparents will accompany me. I know there is a $700 cuc fee for marriage and then we must wait for the wedding certificate . She is planning on going to get her medical examination and police check near the end of june and then send me the wedding certificate , police check , and whatever she needs to send for the medical exam. Is this all i will need to complete my sponsorship application? and also what other fees must i pay when i return to Canada to submit my application , i know the medica is $405 cuc and the police is around $45 cuc. I cant wait to submit my application and fingers crossed count down the months until we are together here in Canada. any help would be much appreciated, im sure i will have more questions in the near future !
thanks in advance

The notary's fee was $750cuc in 2013 in Holguin at her office. I doubt it has gotten lower. The police check was $65 cuc and takes up to 45 days unless you go to the Police in Havana . It takes more then a month to get the marriage certificate yo may be able to get a copy if you ask. You will also need the original long version of your birth certificate translated and certified as well as a lawyer's letter to prove you are single and free to marry it must be translated and notorized.

Re: Havana, Cubat

If you are being married at a Resort you can email copies of your documents to the wedding co ordinator and they will usually show them to the Notary to make sure they meet Cuban regulations.

Morning.

Anybody receive any application news?

V.

Nothing ours went to Havana Jan 6th almost6 months and not a peep very disappointed and disillusioned.

Sorry to hear that it's so quiet on here. Galano if it's been in Havana since Jan 6 th it makes it almost 5 months coming up in June which is still ok timing. It use to be a 4 month wait for second stage approval so fingers crossed that it's maybe only shifted one month to 5 months and that around June 6th you will hear something. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted. Anybody on here waiting longer than 5 months for second stage approval still?

Oops clicked on 6 in error it will be 5 months June 6th just a little frustrated with this process today and lonely for my husband . Sept 26th will be our 2nd anniversary way too long to be apart.

I'll be at 8 months next week since it was received in Havana. A few people from Ontario have been waiting for 7+ months as well.. The new processing time is 10 months so not much longer

Eeeeeesh... 8 months..really? I won't make it.. ???!!! lol

Totally agree with you Waiting another 5 months will be much more then I can handle We have been in this crazy system since July 11 2014. Enough is Enough CIC

It's been quiet on here. How's everyone holding up? Any updates?

How about some of the old members, the spouses that are in Canada now, how are they all doing?

No news here... :(
