Hola Everyone!!!!

So when files get sent to Ottawa it is because they are getting backlogged in Mississauga.......so they just pick a group and ship them off.....that is why the dates are crazy sometimes and why CIC lands up working in different months and not in order!!!

With processing time down to 42 days ladies I am thinking Havana will be slower in contacting you as the files leave Canada faster and land up sitting that much longer in Havana.......not sure which is worse..... :(

But the good news is there is movement in Havana so as long as we know apps are being processed that is a good thing!!!

Panorama....divorce certificates must be included to prove that your marriage is legal.....for both you and he if necessary!!! I was married twice before and had to submit both certificates.....what a pain that was let me tell you!!!

Avana....praying that you will hear soon.

Luvcuba....your day is coming and all will be well....you are just taking the long road but the end result is worth it for sure!!!

Today we went and got Yoani's SIN card and opened a bank account as well as registered with the New Canadian Centre. Next week he has an appointment with an employment counsellor and can start an advanced english class for grammar.....so he is feeling good right now and things are progressing. We had some snow this morning and he was like Baby....is that ....is that....snow!!! It was awesome to see his face. We figured out his coffee of choice at timmies is a double double and today was McDonalds!!! He is enjoying every minute of it. My boys are getting along fine with him and honestly it has not been to much of a transition period!! So far so good!!! He is cold though and I think my heating bills will be higher this year!!!!

So nice to hear all is well!!!! ;D

So a lady that is helpin her daughter sponsor her Cuban husband, posted on cubaamor board that her daughters package was submitted October 17th to cic and that they already received sponsorship approval, I really don't understand what the hell cic is doing if this is true.....14 days/ 10 business days just seem too too fast for them

think it was like what happened to us shuster2210....a bunch of files went to Ottawa again and are being processed....some of September is still waiting and some at the first of October.........again no rhyme or reason......just have to keep encouraging those who might get stuck in the cross-fire!!!

yep! Staying positive. As I am the one in the middle. :o I am not jealous of the woman who submitted after me and is already approved. I AM NOT JEALOUS!!!! ;D

and I really hope that those of you with files sitting in Havana do not get affected by this either!

Anyways...lol KJG....thanks for the explanation. Even more thanks for the updates...your stories are making for a nice distraction from the wait! I am just so excited and encouraged by how well everything is working out for Yoani!! Weeee!

Welcome to the forum Spanishgirl!

Like Shuster said, maybe you can give us a little more information so we could better help you. Are there any specific questions you have? I know that sitting in front of the pile of papers can be overwhelming and anxiety-provoking, but just tackle one bit at a time, and it'll be better than you think! And such a relief when it's all done!

Are you sponsoring your spouse from Cuba? Have you taken a look at the checklist? It'll give you an idea of all the forms/documents you need in the end, and can help you prepare in advance. Of course, I dont know how far along in the papers/process you are, so please if you have any specifics let us know! The girls here are all great, knowledgeable and helpful! any of us would be happy to help you any way we could!

all the best!

Hi KJG, im happy for you, already landed in Canada, i wish u so great there... i have an interview but however im a little concerned. i was wondering if the interview is the last part of the application coz they asked me documents and passports. they didnt ask medicals papers... Is that possible after the interview they ask the medicals papers or if they ask interview before its because they renew my medicals papers ? thanks.

Hi JesustheSaviour......yes usuallthe interview is the last part and if they asked you for documents and passports that is good....if your medical is about to expire they will request an extension and this may take a few weeks..but first they usually do the interview and then the request for extension of medical if it is close to expiration....... :D

ok thank you so much... im down to earth now, i thought i was saved from getting new medicals... i leave everything to the hands of God. thanks. :D

Hi Spanishgirl,

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand. Are you guys back together now and done with the break? Then secondly, you mentioned he is your fiance and not your spouse. There are 3 possibilities for sponsoring your loved one. Spouse category (must be married with valid marriage certificate), Common-Law (only considered legal after proving that you have lived together for one year in total, with proofs of bills, owning the home in both your names for a year, and so on), and Conjugal. Conjugal is in place for couples who are unable to get married for a political or other serious reasons. For example, some countries do not allow same-sex marriage, or wont allow for divorce from a previous spouse, so in these extreme circumstances, one may apply in this category. The approval rate through conjugal however, is extremely low, and has been quoted as low as 2% approval (not sure where this particular number came from, however). Since Cuba allows for divorces, and is relatively easy for a foreign person to marry a Cuban, unless you have lived together for a year continuously, spousal is the only way to go.

Have you planned a wedding already and are looking to prepare papers for after that date?

Let us know if there are any other ways we can help!

Good luck!

Avana
