Mr. Shah did not get any file number instead got this email from AINP. He his application was received on 5th March and H1 from previous employer expiring in June 09. He has his new approved H1B transfer/extension which he sent to the concerned officer by email and will also post a hard copy of the same.

IMO those who want to report change of address after submitting the application could send it to the address listed below.

I guess the good news is that they are actively monitoring all applications.

This is clutching at straws, I admit, but it is a silver lining nonetheless.

Cheers,

I was expecting something like that too when I did not receive my file number till my submitted h1 copy had expired in June. Even though I had received h1 extension, I waited for them to ask. They did not ask and emailed my file number in july with application received date of April when my old h1 was still valid. So i thought, maybe thats why they did not ask. Or maybe they will ask when they are working on nomination cert.

You are lucky koolchik ! May be the officer reviewing your application did not notice the expiration date.

Good point. May be it was a prior to Feb 19 application where you dont have to maintain the status.
