Hi everyone! I'm new here.

I have a question about ecas. I was using it until 3.5 years ago, until my husband's application was refused. I've sent in a new sponsorship application for my husband last month. I don't remember my ecas account details, and can't get into the email address I was using at the time. I also tried using ecas from a link from a forum on this website, but nothing works. Is there any chance CIC would send info there? Or is it always email now? I tried linking his account, but this hasn't worked yet. We also haven't received AOR yet (anytime now). Thanks in advance! Last time around it was devastating for me, but this time I'm sure it'll be approved. So nervous about it, but excited too.

Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about trying to log in, I don't think you're talking about ECAS at all. ECAS doesn't have an account/sign up/password, and no communications are sent through ECAS. ECAS is an automated system you can use to check your application status using only your name, DOB, and application number. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/introduction.do?app=ecas

That being said, I'm assuming you're talking about this system, which most people refer to as MyCIC, Gckey, or just "online account": https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html

They only send information about your application to your online account if you have manually linked the application to that account.

Oh, I see! Thank you so much for your help! I think the new system had me confused because I only used ecas in the past (initially applied 5 years ago), but was thinking it was similar to the new system.
Should I wait then for AOR via email, to link our application?

Yes wait for the AOR email as it will give you an invitation to link your account with GCKey.

You dont need to use your old online account, you can make a new one and still link your application to the new account.

Oh, great. Thank you so much everyone!

Btw, I'd like to make a post or comment somewhere, that could be of help to others, about our experience. Why he was refused, how we moved on, and then our successful rehabilitation application. When I applied for his visa 5 years ago, and then when I applied for his rehabilitation just over a year ago, I don't know why I never thought to sign up to this forum (or any forum). I couldn't find any info specific to our case on the internet, and lawyers' fees were too much. So I hope to be of help to others. Where would be a good place to do so?
