Hello everyone,

I wanted to check if anyone has received any updates on their Group of Five private sponsorship applications, especially for those processed through the Embassy in India.

Here’s my timeline so far:

• AOR: 20 Dec 2022
• G Number: 30 Jan 2024
• Approval: 8 Aug 2024
• Current Status: No updates yet

Has anyone received a call for an interview or medical from the Embassy in India? Also, considering the political tensions between Canada and India, is the embassy currently processing these applications as usual, or are there delays?

Would really appreciate any insights from those in a similar situation. Thanks!

Hi,

11 months is a long time to wait for the India visa office after receiving approval. We are also being sponsored through Group of Five, but our application is with the Ankara visa office. If you've been waiting for medical exams or biometrics for 11 months, then we are cocked here, as the Ankara visa office processes applications very slowly.

When your portal says ‘We started processing your application on July 15, 2025’ that means IRCC has finished the basic intake and completeness check and your application has officially entered the eligibility review stage This is the first major step in processing.


During this stage an officer will

Review your documents and forms
Check if you meet program requirements
Make sure your sponsors and group meet the requirements too

If anything is missing or unclear they’ll request more info. If all looks good, it will move on to background checks (like security, criminality, medical).

The processing time really depends on the workload of the visa office. I have been waiting for 3 months and have not received any updates from the Ankara visa office. I believe it will take between 7 to 12 months to hear back from them.
