Hello everyone,

I need to your help/advice.

My past employer has provided me with the required work experience letter for ircc however they incorrectly used present tense. They mentioned ".....is employed on a permanent basis since XXXX and last employment will be on XXXXX.....". Some other places in the letter they also wrote "are" instead of "was". However, all the details in the letter are correct. Its just the tense that is wrong.

Will this be an issue?

I have already requested them to correct this but just in case they are not able to provide. What should i do?

Not a consultant, just my take. Minor grammatical errors in reference letters are common, especially when HR departments use templates. IRCC officers review thousands of these and they know not every employer writes perfect English.

As long as the key details are correct (job title, duties, hours per week, dates of employment, company letterhead, signature), the tense issue shouldn't cause a problem. The content matters more than the grammar.

That said, since you've already asked them to fix it, wait and see if they can. If they can't, submit what you have. You could include a brief note in your application mentioning that the letter contains minor tense errors but all details are accurate.
