Hi all,

We applied for my parent's pr application after family sponsorship category. We did not appear in the lottery at first draw but luckily it came when the authority did the lottery second time on same year as there were very few applications submitted.

Today we received an email from Immigration Canada with forms and advise on the following items:
- Medical Examination
- Police clearance certificate from back home and every other country where they lived more than six months till they turned 18

We were given 30 days time to submit the requested results and papers

My parents are currently living in Canada with us on Super visa. They have been here for over a year.

Question to forum members who went through similar process:
1) Is it easy to get a police clearance certificate from Canada, I mean can we just go to a police station and request for one?

2) My parents are 69 and 57, do they need finger prints - I do not see any mentioning of it in the letter we received.

3) An email address is mentioned in the letter in case we fail to give the documents on time and keep them updated. Question: Should we send an acknowledgement that we received the forms?

4) If we do the medical exam locally in Canada, will they accept it? It was not mentioned in the letter.

You kind responses, experience sharing and advises would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards
HH

1. Yes, quite easy. Just Google "RCMP Criminal Record Check". You can go to a private company (search "RCMP Accredited Channeler" + "Toronto" (or wherever you live)) that will take their fingerprints and submit them electronically to the RCMP. You'll get the police certificate in a week or so, mailed directly to your home. It costs between CAD 80-120. If you're in a small town and there's no channeler, the police should be able to help.

Make sure you go to a "Livescan" channeler. That's a lot quicker than the ink roll type.

2. Their fingerprints will be taken for the RCMP check. It's quite quick and easy.

3. No need, just submit the forms on time.

3. Yes, they will accept any panel-approved physician's report, including a doctor in Canada.

Thanks a lot. Really appreciate your comments which are valuable.

We live in Mississauga and I thought we'd go to Erin Mills police station to request for a Criminal Certificate.
I tried to call the Police Station few times and answering machine mentioned that in order to request a certificate one must be a resident of Mississauga or Brampton and that got us all confused.

Another request: Any good panel physician here is peel region? Some are better than other and some charges more fee than other.
Anyone which takes good care of the patients? My parent do not speak English

You don't need PCC from Canada, just from your home country and any other country where they have lived over 6 months.
What is the Local visa office (LVO) for your parents application?

Oh that's right. I completely blanked on the fact that they don't need a Canadian PCC, just from your home country + any other foreign countries where they may have lived from more than six months.

Singapore.

They requested the following (exact words, masking my country name with XXXX as I am not sure if I should mention the country here)
Original Good Conduct Certificate (or Certificate of No Criminal Record) from the
police authorities of XXXXX and all countries where you and your spouse have
resided for a period of six months or more since turning 18.

After receiving request for medical examination and police clearance certificate we have visited one local agency in Etobicoke to give fingerprints. I actually followed the guidance received in this thread which was accurate. The agency will send the fingerprints to RCMP who will produce the criminal record check and send to us by mail.

We also started the process of getting police clearance certificate from Bangladesh.
For medical results we have booked an appointment with panel physician at the end of September.
Medical results will be sent to immigration by panel physician once available. We need to send the police certificates.

Question I have: Should we send the police certificate to Immigration by mail or email? This part was not very clear to me.
