Got my SIN number before June 2014 with some confusion

My study permit was obtained in 2013. In June 2014, I applied for my Sin number and got it straight away, presumably because my study permit allowed me to work on campus and because I am a full time student.

For the past year, I thought i was elligible to work off campus, I applied for some jobs but only got one job offer. However, I did not really work that job because I didn't like the terms and conditons so I quit before starting shift on the first day of work. I did not receive any salary

Recently, I called into Canada immigration and asked them to double check my conditions and they told me that I can't work off campus and had to get an amandment for my study permit.

So if I apply for an amandment for my study permit, will it be approved? I wouldn't think that i've had any "employment history." This is probably just a misunderstanding right?
