Got Invitation for PR!! Now Confusion starts. Please Help

Hi All,

I am 29 yrs old, married, working with a government organization in India with an annual package of Rs. 15 lacs (CAD 30,000). I had 451 points and just got an invitation to apply for PR.

I am confused because after applying for PR and getting the final confirmation from CIC, shall I leave my job?? This appears to be a big risk to me. What is the way out???

I am sure many of you would be facing similar issues. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP. I NEED MORE OF A CAREER ADVICE.

Well buddy you have to sit, relax and decide that which option you want to go with - a full-fledge settled job here in India or to start from scratch in Canada. You have to decide.

Job market is good in Canada like business/finance at top followed by IT.

i think that if you went to all the trouble of entering the pool of candidates is because you wanted to inmigrate. Leaving your home country is a difficult decision, perhaps the most difficult decision of your life (it is in my case) ... it is going to be a bumpy ride for sure but I think it is worth it. congratulations on your ITA and good luck with your application.

You can hold off on the worry for a while, as an invitation to apply is not the same thing as getting permanent residence.

I have changed countries twice in my life, and I know how unsettling and anxiety-provoking it is. But if you just take it step by step, it's doable.

First, just pay attention to filing your application. You must have wanted this, or you wouldn't have applied in the first place. Get everything together and file. You have two months to do that, then 6 months to wait for an answer, and then some amount of time (6 months? a year? I don't know...) before you have to land in Canada. You have all that time to make up your mind.

You can also start a job search before getting your PR or landing. Just reach out to people in your industry and in the area you want to live in, and ask them about the job market and prospects for someone with your education and experience. I did that, and found people very helpful. When I came to Canada, I met them and they were again helpful in my job search.

I find Canada a good place to live, but it is not for everyone. You can turn it down at any point, so start the process and then do your investigation of whether it will be right for you.

But for now - one step at a time! The application is first. DON'T quit your job when you send it in. Wait until you get PR!
