Dear Friends,

I got a good news today when I opened my e-mail. I got an offer from McMaster University as a post-doc. I am wondering what impact will it have on my PR?

To give you a little background on my PR application-
I am a PNP-Ontario applicant (PhD stream). The latest status on my PR application is I have added my wife to file, and we have finished our medicals on July/20/2013.

My post-graduation work permit (PGWP) is expired. I do not have any visa to enter Canada now. I am wondering if I were to take this research position what should I do? I am really keen on taking this offer and move back to Canada. Please share your thoughts.

Best,
Frontenacs

Are you inside Canada or outside ?
If you are outside, you will need to have your PR to enter.
You can also check with immigration agency and ask this specific question. They will give you best answer.

Thank you for your reply.
I am in India now, for the last 22 months.
Can I apply for a temoorary work permit at New Delhi? Start date of the position is October 15, 2013.

Yes, you can apply for a temporary work permit using the offer letter from the university.

It will not affect your PR app.

Thanks Canuck for your encouraging reply :)
Please note that I have finished my medicals and will get my PPR anytime from Ottawa.
Real problem is if I submit my passport now for a TRV at New Delhi, I may not have it back in my hand around the time I get PPR from Ottawa. The ongoing strike doesn't help my case either :(

That is possible. Sorry, I can't help you with that decision. Good luck :)
