My husband just got his visa. We both live in the US and plan to relocate in June. My question is how to handle the goods to handle sheet. Should we both do one since I am a former resident (citizen) of Canada? And if I so do I give it in June when I go up with him to land or in August when I am moving permanently?
Thanks

When i was moving back into Canada as a returning resident, from the US after living there for 11 years, I handed in my list of goods when i was reclaiming my residency back, at the same time, I also handed them a list of goods to follow ...

Hope that helps ..

more questions. What do I put as the address on the B4(we don't have a permanent address in Alberta yet)? And is country of origin and country of export - USA?

Yes, USA for both country of origin and export.

You can provide the Albertan address later on if your goods would be arriving after your husband's landing (afterall one B4 per family). Be sure to take photos of your personal goods at the time of claiming the goods.

So we only need 1 form for my husband and I? Also, is the list of goods to follow on a special form or just another B4?

Yes, one B4 per family. Even if you have dependant children joining you and bring in items later on, the CBSA will only count it as one family only.

You can either download and complete the form (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf) yourself or prepare it using excel on a blank paper. If you like, the CBSA officer would be happy to complete the B4 for you and attached your list in excel format with it.

I had one last worry. I have a limit of $10,000 on any one item. And my husband does not. How do they figure the value of the car? I looked it up on Kelly BLue Book and it is very close to the $10,000. What should I do?
List it on our joint (family) goods to follow and list as $10,000? Plus, the car is in my name (the Canadian) only.
THanks. I am trying to finish up these "stupid" B4 forms.

the canadian customs count as one family per B4 anyways, so list them as family goods to follow should be ok.
