I submitted my application earlier this week (Oct 21).

I have a vacation planned from Dec 10 2026 to Jan 17 2027.

Do I need to inform IRCC of this? If so, how do I inform them?

Also, I'll be backpacking with no solid itinerary (I only know the country I am going to, Vietnam). I also won't have an address there, as I'll be moving around.

Do I need to give them an address? Would it be possible to give my friends address? Or let my current address stay, and have some friends check my mail when Im gone?

Thanks!

Doesnt this apply to me?

It's an advice from IRCC, not a requirement.
It's meant to avoid scheduling you for an interview or ceremony while you're away.
So yeah, sure, let them know you're traveling to Vietnam for a month if you want, but that's all they need to know. Your address during that month will still be your Canadian address.

On top of that, interviews are fairly rare, and the travel's planned for only a couple of months after applying - not much chance that a late-October applicant's going to be called for either an interview or oath in the first three months after applying. And if either of those thigns come to pass - they can be dealt with then.
