GBM is a course, where people of all backgrounds can pursue it. However, CHC looks into applicants, who apply to a course related to their field of study.... but since this GBM is a general course.... I don't think there should be any case of course mismatch, even though I would say if you could pursue something related to your Engineering field, on PG level/ master's level at any publicly funded Canadian university..that would be better. But for entry to most Canadian university, one requires min B average or 70% in their graduation. So, if you don't have.... that much..you can also consider applying to some PG cert./diploma course in your engineering field in any of the Canadian colleges(if there are any such courses). Or else..go ahead with GBM..and at the end...your academic grades, IELTS score, strong finances (loan letter of 75-85% of total expenses form a recognized bank which will include fees+living expenses +return airfare), more added advantage to work ex., going for a higher level course in your field/ general field, no gaps etc. and overall luck will play it's part... in you either getting the visa or not.

Best of luck.
