Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I know this is not a family class sponsorship question but do not know where else to seek help. I keep losing draft personal messages which I have typed out but which are then timed out by the software when I attempt to send them: I am not such a fast typist that I can always beat the timing out clock. That however is not the main problem. I used to be able to copy the timed out message and then paste it into a new blank pm form. That no longer works: what is pasted is some previous message or reply and not the timed out message which I had copied. Is that a general problem or something wrong with my computer? Who (if anyone) do I contact to protest? Is there any way I can increase the time before the message times out? Or any way I can recover timed out messages which do not copy properly? Any computer experts out there with a suggestion?

Type out the messages first on Notepad or Word on your computer, then copy it over to the message on website.

That sounds a verygood idea. Is that what everyone, except me, does?

I don't do this. Whenever I get a timed out session, my messages are still there. Just press Post one more time. At least that is that happens with me. If I feel that I was typing too long or about to get signed out, I copy the message and was able to paste the message once I signed back in.

Ya me too. Anytime i'm timed out, the message is still there and can just hit Post again. I only use the Notepad way for other websites that have a few more glitches.

Perhaps they also have something different in their browser settings that's causing the lost messages. Could try to use a different web browser i.e. if using Internet Explorer, try Google Chrome instead.

If you choose the option to be logged in FOREVER, each time you time out on PM or post, and can't post it on 1st try, when you click to post 2nd time it will go through as the system will automatically recognize you are logged in. Hope this helps. If it still doesn't work, then it must be something else, and Rob's suggestion should work :)

I don't have it check "forever" for login with my issue I posted above.

Is there also an issue with creating new topics right now? It appears I'm able to reply but not able to create a new topic.

Many thanks for the replies to my plea for help. Next time I write a long-winded personal message I think I will adopt Rob_TO's suggestion and type it out first on Notepad. Just a few further observations. The Reply screen on Canadavisa contains the word 'Post' but the personal message screen simply says 'send message' (on my computer anyway; but I assume everyone's pm screen is the same? ) When a pm is timed out pressing the send message button achieves nothing: the timing out warning stays put. So I wonder whether those of you who say that pressing the post message again achieves success (Jomz, Rob_TO and Screech 339) are considering the reply process rather than the pm procedure? As for Jomz's suggestion, I have no idea how to log in forever. I can see nothing which gives me that option. And finally in reply to swyftdahoe, I have not encountered any difficulty in posting a new thread. My first message on this thread 2 days ago was new: no problem.

Just as a matter of interest my last reply, a few moments ago, timed out and pressing the post button again worked a treat. It is the send message button on the pm screen which does not work if pressed twice.
