Hi to all,
I am physiotherapist and my wife is dentist but we filed our case as dentist in january 2008. My occupation is in demand but my wife occupation is not on the list of demanding jobs. how much time it will take to process our case as dentist. I have seen that British columbia has greatest demand of dentist and physiotherapist both. Will the canadian embassy ask to immigrate British comubia or our case will take long time? Please give your valuable suggestions.

From what has been published so far, its clear that people who submitted their applications before 27th Feb 2008 will have to go through the same long process. Try to get a job offer from BC if you think they have a demand for your occupation

1) If both you or your wife have a job offer in British Columbia, you can apply as a Provincial Nominee. The process is very fast, but you need to find a job before you can apply. If you are accepted, you are expected to live and work in British Columbia;

2) If neither of you have a job offer, you can still apply as a Skilled Worker. You are the principal applicant, and your can go with you as part of your family. If you are accepted, you can live anywhere you want in canada.

HOWEVER, go to this site www.workingincanada.gc.ca to find out what you need to do to work as a physiotherapist or dentist in Canada. You will probably need to take some courses and pass some exams.

Verify with the visa office that your application is being processed under the old rules. If yes, then it would probably be faster for you to withdraw and apply again under the new rules. You don't say where you are applying from but in the old system, applications can take from 1 to 6 years. In the new system, they have promised they will take only 6 months to a year. If you are applying as a skilled worker, it's not relevant what province you said you were planning to live in.
