Hello,

After a year of working, I am ready to submit my EE application now. I am not sure which NOC my job fall into.
I am a Geo-spatial (Geographical Information System) Analyst.
My duty include some technician duties, such as Geo-process, cartography, etc, but I also do some python, java-scripts programmings to automate work process, as well as configure applications for business operation. So I am not sure with NOC code i should write on my application form. Please help! Thank you in advance. :)

Cheers,

Jen

Dear Jen,

I am a GIS Analyst & Technologist with with 16 years experience; I suggest you consider NOC 2255 as its job titles clearly say 'GIS Technologist'. Also, consider, GIS is a Geoscience IT which requires classified qualification rather MIS Analyst which is related to computer science qualification 'primarily'.

Dear Jen,

I am also a GIS Consultant with over 6 years of experience in GIS Technology. Did you get an invitation from anywhere with NOC 2255? I have also applied in 2255.

Looking for your response.
Thanks,
Jay Z

Dear Z,

I also worked a GIS Analyst, GIS DBA, GIS Consultant with 6+ years experience. Should I apply with NOC 2255 or NOC 2171. Could you please advise. All my experiences are in GIS Technology, mainly ESRI(ArcGIS) so which NOC will be best for me to avoid any rejections?

Please advise.

Regards,
Jay Z

Hi there, I'm also having issues with NOC 2255.

I am a Geoinformatics Specialist and I recently was promoted to Geospatial Dept Manager. I think the noc 2255 description limits our appeal to the IT industry and likewise employment demands across provinces to receive NOI to apply for PNPs. GIS intelligence is in great demand but I believe we are overlooked by being categorized as metereological professions!

Is there a way to write to Cic to have then reconsider the grouping of the Geospatial titles?

It really limits our invitations for programs though, 2171 is in high demand
