5. The $10,000 GIC is only purchased after the CIC has notified the applicant that their Study Visa has been approved in principle. Once payment is made, the bank will scan a copy of the confirmation of payment to the CIC whereupon the Visa will be stamped.
IN ACTUAL
WHAT HAS WRITTEN ON VFS SITE
PREFERRED OPTION for proof of funds:
Evidence of purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution, in the amount of $10,000 CAD to cover living expenses for your first year in Canada and evidence of payment for your first year's tuition. See information on the following page for information on how to obtain a GIC.
WHAT HAS STATED ON THE GIC FORM
If the Study Permit application is rejected by the applicable Canadian High Commission Office, please provide a copy of the Refusal Letter from the Canadian High Commission (“CHC”) and the GIC account number to Scotiabank (scan and email a copy to studentgic @ scotiabank.com) in order to have your GIC cashed out and get the refund. Upon receipt of confirmation from the CHC, Scotiabank will refund the GIC amount to your account in India.
WHAT BOTH THE STATEMENTS MEANT IS
1) VFS
PURCHASE OF GIC IS THE REQUIREMENT OF LODGING A FILE
2) GIC (SCOTIA BANK)
IF THE VISA IS REFUSED MEANS EVEN HERE THE GIC IS BEFORE VISA APPROVAL
and the statement on the facebook page is contradictory with both of these conclusion
