i plan on visiting a female friend within the next year up in Canada, and im lost from the start. I know I need a passport to cross the border(I will be driving), but what is this nexus card ive read about and enhanced drivers lisence?

if things connect good during my visit I plan on going back for another visit and have talked about maybe moving up there. so I guess im trying to think ahead as what I would need also for moving up there. I would at a general motors dealership in the states, could I have my boss try to help me get a job lined up that way? or what steps need to be taken?

thanks in advanced for all the help

If you want to visit Canada by car from the US then you will either need a passport or enhanced drivers license.

You are not allowed to move to Canada as a visitor. In order to move to Canada you would need to obtain a visa or permit that allows you to move like a work permit or study permit. Alternatively you could apply for permanent residency (if you qualify). Once you are approved for permanent residency you would be allowed to move to Canada.

To qualify for a work permit in Canada you will first need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to advertise the job for a minimum of one month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. The employer will then have to apply for something called an LMIA - which is the approval to hire you. The processing time for an LMIA will be anywhere from 6-20 weeks and will cost the employer a $1000 processing fee. If the LMIA is approved you will then be able to apply for a work permit to Canada.
