Hey guys,

I'm applying for a Travel Document to get back to Canada as a PR (Haven't lived there in a while but won an appeal with the IAD so I have the resolution where it states that I retain my status) and I have been in a formarl relationship for 2 years. We want to get married in July but I'm planning to head back to Canada before (April?) To have a looks and feel of where we would be living (city wise)and all before sponsorig him.

Question is,, is this a good plan? And other question is, should I say that I'm engaged in my Travel Document application? Or single? Being engaged is no marital status in my home country so to me there's no dofference unless it represents something risky to say...or should I wait a couple of months, get married and add my husband to the Travel Document??

Not sure what to do! And I just dont want officers to believe that this is a marriage fraud, that's why I wanted to return to canada for a couple of months first and get back to have a nice wedding so I can add pictures to the spouspal applicantion that demonstrate that we are not playing here.

Any advice will be deeply appreciated!

Thanks

application?

Engaged isn't a recognized status. If you haven't lived together for at least a year - then you are single.

Were you allowed to retain your PR status under H&C? If not, you may have to return to Canada and wait for two years before you will be able to sponsor your spouse. At the time you apply to sponsor, you must meet the residency requirement. To the best of my knowledge, exceptions to this rule are only granted if you were able to extend/renew your PR status under H&C.

Looking back through your posting history - I think a number of your questions were answered back in November when you posted a more detailed question. You may want to read through those answered again. You've also provided a lot more detail in that thread that's lacking in this one.

Hello!

Yes, it was allowed under humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Does this mean that I can send the application right away (if gotten married before travel)? Or do I have to land first, get back to get married and return to send the application (as I plan)?

I guess, my question this time is towards how can the near date of my wedding affect the Travel Document. and if I should choose the engage or single box in the application.

Once again, anything that you guys advise is very enlightening to me.

Thanks again.

As a PR, you must be physically living in Canada at the time you submit the PR application and you must continue living in Canada while the application is processed.

You cannot submit the application from outside of Canada.
