Getting married after obtain a study permit

Hi there!
My boyfriend, for 4 years, just got his study permit and work in Canada, when he made the application, he declared that he was single, because he is, but now that he is there we would like to get married so that we could be together. My boyfriend and I are from Mexico.
My question is, Do we had to wait some time after obtaining his study permit to be able to get married? Or if after obtaining his study permit we were able to get married after a short time (in few months)?
All this because we are concerned that our application will be rejected or his student permit will be questioned

He needs to update his status to married if you get married before he comes to Canada.
