Getting a visa whilst in Canada

Hey all,

I'm currently in Canada on a temporary visitor permit, and I've been here for about 6 weeks, and I have a return flight in about 10 months time. I'm an Australian currently living with my girlfriend (who is a Canadian currently working here), but our plan changed and money is currently tight. I'm just wondering if I can apply for the IEC working holiday or a general work permit from within Canada? I am eligible for IEC both of these things, but I've been trying to get an appointment with someone at the CIC office in Windsor which I've so far been unable to do as they haven't responded to me. All the paperwork and T&C's are confusing me...

I'm in Windsor right now so going over a border to process things isn't a problem at all.

If you need to know anything else to help me out just ask!

You can apply for a general work permit either through an application or you can obtain one at the border provided you have both a full time job offer and your employer has also obtained an approved LMIA. Without both a full time job offer and approved LMIA - you don't qualify for a general work permit. Do you have an approved LMIA?

Without an approved LMIA, your only option is the IEC program. Yes - you can apply for the IEC program from within Canada.

Thanks for your reply! Ahh ok, I do not qualify for a work permit then.

For the IEC application, all I have to do is fill out the IMM 1295 form and pay. The form is for an application made outside Canada. Am I needing a different form or do I have to go through a different process?
