I'm new to this forum and I am going insane trying to fill out all these forms. I'm applying under Common-Law for Family Class from within Canada and I have a couple questions about the Generic Application form....

So for Question 3 How many family members, including you, are in this application (see instructions guide)? do I put my common-law partner as a family member if he is also my sponsor? Or should it just be me?

I don't know whether to put a 1 or a 2, and what makes it even more confusing is on the Sponsorship Evaluation form there's a box for Current Undertaking for Question 5 that says to enter the number that is in Question 3 of the Generic Application form, but if I have a 2 because of my common-law partner then wouldn't it be counting him twice on the Sponsorship Evaluation form? So in that case, do I put a 2 on the Generic App and a 1 on the Sponsorship Evaluation?!?

I'm literally driving myself crazy.

Also this is probably a really stupid question, but I don't put my parents or my sister, right? Because they are technically mentioned on the application where you put in family details but they are not accompanying me or applying to live in Canada or anything....

And the last thing is I've been going round in circles trying to research is which Immigration Office I'm supposed to put in Question 4 Immigration Office requested for processing this application. I live in British Columbia and have done so for over 4 years, do I put CPP-Ottowa there?

Any help would be endlessly appreciated!!!!

The sponsored person and any dependents, so from the sounds of it you put a 1.
No you do not add your parents or sister.
I believe it would be Ottawa as you have been in Canada for 12 months or longer.
Double check the processing times though, depending on where you are from it might have a shorter time.

I think most people filling the apps go crazy, just take a deep breath and try to relax. ;D

I am sure others will reply too just to give you more reassurance/guidance.

On the IMM 0008 it should be just you.

From the guide 3999:

"Who should be included in this application?

If you are being sponsored as a member of the family class, your spouse or common-law partner (except where your spouse or common-law partner IS the sponsor) must be included in your application as a family member."

And then in "Sponsorship evaluation" question 5A, you should also write 1.

Ahhh thank you so much guys, you've been really helpful! I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go through all my forms again.... and I'll check on that processing time like you said!

Thanks again :D

you might want to hire an Immigration consultant to review the documents. The fees vary.
