I just started looking over and filling out the generic application form, trying to get a head start on things (for January), and I have a few questions (I've currently been "visiting" Canada since Dec 2013 to establish a common-law marriage with my partner).

-First thing is number 10, it asks for my current country of residence. I'm applying outland but I'm living in Canada. Do I put Canada and that my status is a visitor? If so, on the from and to section do I put the first date I "moved" here or the last time I re-entered? I moved on Dec 30, 2013, but my last entry was Sept 2, 2014.

-Also, on number 13, it asks when my common-law relationship began. Do they want the very beginning of the relationship or the date in which we became officially common-law?

-Number 14 asks about previous marriages. I have two and there is only room for one. Do I attach another page for the first one or just leave it off? (I'm assuming I should tell them about it)

-And then, last thing.. Is my residential address the same as my mailing address? I say yes, will this get me into trouble? It's confusing because to be in a common-law marriage, I must live with my partner for a year, yet I cannot legally "live" in Canada. I don't want to say the wrong thing and get rejected. Thanks!

Number 10: Put Canada and put visitor. and put the last time you entered (as this is truthful). There is another form where you list your past addresses, so this is where you would detail your whereabouts in the past. A question though, how will CIC deem you common law if you say you have been living with your partner since December 2013 but you last arrived on September 2nd? Did your partner accompany you wherever it was you were?

Number 13: Put a year plus one day after you started living together. They want the date you became common law.

Number 14: Enter the first and then have an additional sheet (with your name, form name, section name and number you are answering and just say that there was not enough room for you to complete the question).

Yes your residential address is the same as your mailing address. CIC is only interested in if you live with your partner. Yes technically you are visiting Canada, but you are still living with your partner.

You are preparing for January, Consider this a practice application your filling out right now.
CIC updates forms quite often. Look around the forum and you will see many people have had setbacks with expired forms in their application. Fill out the application your doing now to learn how its done and to gather all the information you need to complete them.

When you are ready to send the application download the forms again as by this time there could be updated forms yet again.

When I re-entered on September 2, it was returning from a weekend in the states visiting my family. My partner accompanied me, yes. :) Thanks for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate your help.

I have similar question

So, I am on IEC, is it "visitor" or "temporary residence"?

Thank you for this information. I am still in the process of filling out some new forms because when I made a last minute check from the list of forms online, I noticed the revision date on one of the forms changed. I almost sealed the envelope. I am now worried about the payment I made online. Is there an expiry date to this payment?

No need to worry about the payment just be sure to include a receipt that you printed out of it with your application.
