Hi. What does GCMS stand for? and what's that for??
Do I need that too?
Does anybody know that how long it lasted last time when CIC was on strike?

GCMS - Global Case Management System
CIC uses this system to track applications through processing stages. GCMS notes can be ordered to review the details of ones application. Sometimes it can give you an outlook of where you stand or are stuck, while other times they are completely useless. You dont need them nor are they required. This is something VOs use to make notations on your file, so that if they ever have to refer back to them, they have a record.

ok friends, here is my situation regarding GCMS notes. I applied online on May 10 and received the copy today via email. nothing started on my application except that the criminality is in progress and RCMP screening resulted in no reportable trace

Somewhat similar case with me.

Sent additional documents (on April 29) through email -- Did not receive acknowledgement that doc is added to my file.
Sent reminder email(on May 9) to acknowledge that they have received my docs -- Again Did not receive acknowledgement that doc is added to my file.

what should i do? Shall I send the docs again in fresh email? With better subject line saying URGENT ?

Make sure you include your first/last name, DOB, UCI and file # in your email to ottpilot-immigration@cic.gc.ca. Did you receive automatic acknowledgements to your emails?

Yes I did receive automated reply email immediately aftr sending mail but no acknowledgement that docs are added to my file.. !

I included all application details.. Not sure why they didnt respond.. !

CIC website says " If you want a confirmation of receipt, you must send your documents by registered mail. Once we receive your documents, we will update your file. You will not be contacted until it is necessary."

How many times can we apply GCMS notes, say once we received it and nothing is started on your application, can you re apply for it again in few weeks?
Dont worry if you have received the confirmation and the tracking number then you will definitely receive it after 30 days.

Hi guys,

I applied for my GCMS notes on May 15th, and haven't received them yet. Is there some way to check the progress on that with the tracking number they gave me, or should I just wait till the end of the week and apply again?

Thanks!

The tracking no dosn't make any sense....

No other option other then to wait

Wait for another 2 weeks and try to send a follow up email to ATIP-AIPRP@cic.gc.ca including the confirmation email, client ID, AOR... BTW do check the Spam

this is for your Info. Requested GCMS on May 22 and received today.

I have a question, hopefully the seniors can help.

I have Criminality - passed
Medicals - passed
Eligibility - passed (even though they needed a review pheeeeww)
RCMP Screening - No reportable Trace
Security - Blank, with multiple activity note entries

Can someone tell my what the difference between criminality, rcmp screening, and security is? And why they don't have updates on my security? I'm guessing this is the only thing holding up my application.

Any help is appreciated.

@ carlopop

Criminality: criminal records from countries where you have lived (PCC you submitted and further investigation by CIC)
RCMP: Canadian check of national criminal database
Security: check completed by CSIS for any known terrorist or criminal ties that would compromise national security or endanger Canadian lives

Cant give you more without knowing whats in the notes. Why its blank....my guess is as good as yours - perhaps cuz the check hasnt been completed yet.

Security remains blank on most peoples notes. CEC do not release info re security clearances. That's pretty standard. Chances are your file is just in a Queue at this point... It's looking good though !

Thanks CEC2013 and jsm0085!

jsm have you seen other cases where security stays blank or shows Not Started?

All cases I have seen regarding GCMS notes have been as above... I've never seen any information given... If you look through the forums here and trackitt it's pretty standard... Based on what security covers they don't release any info regarding it.

JSM makes a good point...just remember that CSIS is the one conducting the security check, so CIC really wouldnt have the authority to release sensitive info without their authorization. The way I imagine it works is that your info is given to CSIS, who runs that through their databases and goes more into detail when necessary....then they notify CIC if passed/failed. CIC is the centralized processing location, which means that some data will come in from other agencies...as is in this case.
