There is one thing what I noticed and experienced that once you filed a mandamus then there is chances that your file touched by someone and it starts moving. So, in my case I spent $4200 up to the Memorandum of Argument stage. Then I discontinued this year January, and once I received the GCMS notes later, where I noticed under the "Security Sub Activities Section ": Security Favorable, date created on March. Then in July my Comprehensive Security marked as completed. Now a week ago I also received Portal 1 email. And my expired medical also extended by IRCC.

Thanks for sharing your timeline. May I ask why you discontinued your mandamus in January? Did IRCC or DOJ provide any assurance, or was it your own decision?

I had that update earlier this year, after two years in security. Later I ordered GCMS notes, and it was just my regular criminality check expired after two years. This is just my data point.

I applied inland, so they would just request a new police certificate from the RCMP, not from me.
From what I read online, they would request the new police certificate after security has been wrapped up, along with everything else that has expired, e.g. medical, as a final step.

Hi,

I am stuck in A34 since March 26 2025, tried contacting CSIS through ATIP portal or their ATIP representative email, nothing worked they do not reply.

The CBSA doesn't cooperate either, I asked for the GCMS , they said attach a passport scan, and closed a requests, so I had to open a new request attach a passport scan, after a month they replied the scan isn't clear (it was ) , and again closed the request. I made sure to do super clear scan applied and in a month they say file is unreadable. which is strange AF, since it works on every device I know, I even tried on internet explorer, the pdf works. I raised a complaint they replied you was given proper reasons of the delays.

I am the PA, my wife and child are Canadian citizens, I have canadian visitors visa which is active till 2028, but we aren't moving to Canada since I would not be allowed to work there and the country is very expensive.

The MP's literally replied that we only want to help people who are within Canada and are registered as our voters, so they literally just ignored our requests. We went as far as contacting the Senators who again told us that if you aren't residing within Canada we cannot help you.


My child is almost 4, he is prevented to move to his home country to go to school and integrate without separating our family. I contacted the layer he said spousal sponsorships have the lower priority, so expect at least 1-2 more years for the processing to end.

Now I am stuck, I request GCMS I don't get them, MP's are bluntly saying we won't help you, one of them even asked my wife how many family members does she have in Canada who are voting? Layers are sayiong to wait, and not litigate.

My question is the following, ignoring even the immigration process itself, doesn't it look like my file is mishandled? Can't I start a case for this reason, to prove that they actually didn't do their job?
I mean we got literally no updates from no one, the webform's automatic replies is the only reply I have ever goten since last 1.5 years.

P.S. we did get a GCMS not once in August, but we have to ask my wife's relative to pretend to be her, and call to MP from inside Canada, promise to vote for her, etc, it was very degrading and we don't really want to do it again.

- Screening screening delay varies a lot(each individual is unique and impossible to predict). Nobody knows how it exactly works or how long it is for an individual.
- The times depends on the geopolitical factors, security factors, individual factors etc..
- The security screening conducted by CBSA/CSIS are on the classified level. Therefore IRCC ordinary officer or MPs have no idea about the exact personal progress. (In canada, only the officier with certain levels of security clearance can have access to the classified information).
- One possible recourse is to wrt mandamus to compel a decision. But it's highly individual specific and it's better to consult a lawyer to know the possibility.
