If I am under admin processing for a US visa (I withdrew the application, but still the admin processing has to be completed regardless), does this mean I am automatically placed under SS? AP was because of my academic research background and nationality (Egyptian).

No! Unless, you see SS in your CBSA notes I doubt there's a reason here for you to assume anything.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share my timeline and see if anyone has had a similar experience.

Application submitted: Feb 17, 2024

AOR: June 17, 2024

Background check (A34) started: around Aug 2024

My A34 (principal applicant): completed on April 23, 2026

Dependent (spouse): background check still in progress (A34 not completed yet)

Everything else for my spouse seems done (criminality, biometrics, info sharing), but only A34 is still pending.

Has anyone been in a similar situation where:

principal applicant A34 is done,

but dependent is still stuck in background/security screening?

If yes, how long did it take after that for final approval or movement?

Just trying to understand if this is a normal delay at this stage or if it usually takes much longer for dependents.

Thanks in advance

Hi
My CSIS notes were requested October 2025. Since that time nothing has been received.

But despite that and the overall waiting time, dependent’s background was completed on the tracker 1 month ago. Only principle’s one is still ongoing.

AOR - 2 August 2024
Both (dependent and principal) under c-check since 1 October 2024. It’s already 18 months of c-check for the principal applicant.

No mandamus so far.

IRCC and CBSA notes received in November didn’t show any progress since January 2025.

So, dependent’s background was cleared without any legal intervention from our side.
Even I have same AOR - 2Aug 2024. In Security screening since Nov 2024, no updates so far. Went through MP, multiple webforms, calls but no luck.

Anyone seeing ghost update in Tracker and/or GcKey Portal recently? I got one but when I called IRCC to confirm the update, the agent told me they didn't see updates on their end and security is still in progress.

I've had a "ghost" update on the tracker recently as well, but these are often triggered by backend or automated system activity, so I don’t think it necessarily signals anything meaningful.

Hi, I applied for PR through Non-Express Entry BC PNP International Post-Graduate Stream (IPG). I received AOR in February and the PAL 2 months ago in March. I passed eligibility, criminality.

2 days ago (May 11), I received the following ADR:
“CV/Resume: A document containing a brief description of your education, qualifications and experience.”

They asked me to provide resume for me and my dependent spouse. We are both graduate students in Canada (Me in Computer Science, and her in medical field). All of our current and previous work experience have been purely academic — working on academic research projects.

Questions:

1) How likely is it we are going to be placed under comprehensive security screening?

2) How detailed should we be in the resumes? We understand it should be 2 pages maximum (given the "brief description" they asked for). Should we explain the projects in detail? Should we give a very brief idea convenient for non-technical reader?

Thanks!

1. Most likely comprehensive security screening beacsue of IT/Research background. (Same thing happened for us first ADR: Resumes and govt form (HR in Education), then IRCC placed us under comprehensive security screening)

2. We provided a technical resume

Result for us just to give an idea: CC started for both of us in August 2024, Principal applicant (who has a govt job) completed: April 2026, but still waiting for spouse cc who has an IT background

did they ask you for “detailed” resume of “brief” one? I saw in other places that if they ask for detailed resume then it is indeed a bad sign.

So, what was urs?
