If I am under admin processing for a US visa (I withdrew the application, but still the admin processing has to be completed regardless), does this mean I am automatically placed under SS? AP was because of my academic research background and nationality (Egyptian).

No! Unless, you see SS in your CBSA notes I doubt there's a reason here for you to assume anything.
