and when do you think they will continue working on december applications? are you saying they're going to freeze all applications submitted after november and spend several more months working ONLY on older applications? i don't believe that.

I'm not saying that is what they are doing, it's just my personal opinion from following other threads! All of Novermbers seemed to come out on a regular basis and I haven't heard of one December getting ppr... In the Manila thread there was just a May 15 applicant that got ppr and a June 15 still waiting....

Hi,
I am November applicant still no update on my eCas since the last I got in April, I wrote to AVO( Accra visa office) they replied say its in progress that no need mailing that they will contact if they need any information. Its 9 months now and did not know what else to expect. The wait is too long and telling on me and my spouse as others too...

It's 9 months for us also, I do agree my friend that the wait is too long but we must have more patience. I do believe they are working on backlog files. A file from August 2014 just got decision made from MVO, 2 years they have been waiting....

enh -- I was confused. I thought that there may be some benefit to seeing it before. When you get it -- let me know!

No probs Profiler. I will let you know. I hope it shows something because on GCKey/My CIC all it shows is my medical has been passed. That's it!

I guess Officer LS03731 created your notes.

So the last update seems to be in 9th June, 2016 and your application is still with CPC Mississauga. Nothing between June 2016 and now?

That's all I can decipher. Don't worry someone with more knowledge will advise you.

It means Call Center referral. You contacted CIC call center on May 12th I suppose for an inquiry.
Whoever created the note is the call center representative you spoke with... Nothing to worry about.

Looks like you passed. NRT - Non-Reportable Trace - it means that they were not able to find any bad information on you with respect to criminality.

Hi Everyone. Just wondering if this explanation below is accurate:

Background check is done by visa post processing application with cooperation of visa posts where your education and experience credentials are from - this task verifies your claims and authenticity of documents.

Security check is done by Canadian intelligence and security agencies, with or without cooperation of proper authorities in countries you lived/stayed in, and it is done completely independently from CIC - CIC only gets result, which will be positive or negative, without any explanation (as it is classified). This task looks deep into your life, activities and associations to find out if you are/were involved or are/were associated in any way with anyone who is/was involved in espionage, terrorism, organized crime, radical movements, crimes against humanity, war crimes, etc..

Criminal check looks into your police certificates and verifies with relevant countries to see if you have a criminal record that may make you inadmissible to Canada.

My $0.05 here is that the explanation seems legit. There was a post on here (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/csis-cic-checks-t67570.0.html) that went into a little more detail about CSIS.

Thanks Profiler. This is really interesting.

According to what I read in the link, the CIC immigration security screening time frame for:

NRT: 57 days (almost two months)
Information Brief: 400 days (approx 1 year and two months)--Refugee/Protected but admissable
Inadmissible Brief: 461 days (approx 1 year and four months)--Refugee/Protected but inadmissable because of issues discovered in investigation

Does that mean that if it takes longer than that time (57 days) that they have found something that needs further investigation?

Then the article says that screening for permanent resident application from within Canada takes 70 days and screening for permanent resident application from outside Canada it does not give a time frame.

??????

57 / 70 days for NRT seems reasonable. Considering how long the FBI checks take ;). This is also old data I think. I am afraid to visit the CSIS website to look for their latest statistics. I worked with a guy who worked there once.... visiting their website (or the CSE's) is a mega no-no. I am bound by confidentiality to explain further ;)

I am not certain if they return the full brief, unless CIC asks for it. I think they would just return a summary.
