If you think Canadian government is pain in the .... look around the rest of the world.
And that being said I think it's ridiculous people to request notes when they even haven't got SA.
I don't need to compare the Canadian govt. to less transparent and effective world governments .

GCMS notes is a part of the right to access of information and its a basic right and the govt. is obliged to to release it .

Depends on how fast is your VO , some Applications get finalized in less than 6 months therefore one may order notes as early as 2 to 3 months , others may take to 9 months or longer to see anything important on the notes .

I have read through these posts several times and can not seem to find an answer to my question. I received the GCMS notes after we were denied and have gone over them several times and cannot see a reason for the VO( Havana, Cuba) asking for an interview. There was no indication from the beginning of the notes to the interview request IE red flags etc Has anyone ever seen this happen ? Is it common in some VO\s? Or were we profiled because I am older than my husband? (13yrs difference)

I think it is ridiculous to make generalizations.

For your information, if we had not requested our GCMS notes which we did despite that fact that we DO NOT HAVE SA, then we would never have known about two e-mails that were supposedly sent to us by CIC which we never received.

First e-mail was requesting that Appendix A and IMM 5406 to be redone (1 June 2016)
Second E-mail was AOR2 sent to PA. (30 June 2016)

We check our e-mail address everyday but we never got these e-mails. So basically our application is behind three months.

When we received the GCMS notes on 31 Aug 2016, we sent a CSE and have not received a response yet, just the generic e-mail saying they received our CSE. We called CIC to let them know and sent the requested forms on 1 Sep 2016. Still could not see what was wrong with the forms.

+1 here browning911. There is definitely cases where it is helpful to have them at any stage of your case, and at some reasonable cadence. Requesting them every month might be a bit much, but some reasonably regular cadence is fine.

That said, it's not fair to get pissed off when they don't show up 5 minutes after the 30 days has passed. The volume of requests they receive and the volume of information they have to parse in order to service the request and the laws is significant. That's why I believe patience is reasonable here.

Your case highlights where that access does work to everyone's advantage.

Also, it was stated previously that Access to Information was a basic right -- I wanted to provide a link to what basic rights we have: http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/csj-sjc/just/06.html

Well, let's just say relationships where the woman is older are unusual in most cultures. But then again, plenty of people have been approved with an age difference. Don't over think about the age difference, or you will drive yourself mad throughout the process. Do your best to show your relationship is genuine, and CIC will see it for what it is.

anyone here who noticed that the gcms notes are still not delivered even if it was already more than 30 days from the time we applied. We applied on 1st of August 2016, then we received a notification middle of August 2016 and asked for the consent form where requestor must sign in C section. We send it the next day and up to this point we haven't received any email of our gcms notes.

It's been 40 days already.

Thanks.
I'm in the same situation. I've ordered my ntoes on august 14th, and just 2days ago I received an email asking me to sign section C, which I did. I sent them back the form yesterdyay.

In the email, they told me that they would processed with the notes within 30 calendar days from the DATE OF THE RECEIPT. I got the receipt on august 14th. So, technically they shouldnt pass the 30 day limit. Did you try sending them an email?

OP was already denied and last I read was either planning an appeal or to reapply.

You're wrong my friend. You have the right to know what is happening with your file (unless you dont want ofcourse). I dont call this a courtesy at ALL. If the government would allow my wife to visit me while her PR is in process (like applicants in the US), then i would call this a courtesy.

Perhaps, you meant to say there is a limit to which the Government can disclose information. Most of us would agree with you on this one.
