Hi,

There is a situation that I can not find a solution for it and your help is highly appreciated.

Applying for citizenship, I need to calculate the physical presence in Canada before and after becoming PR. If a person became PR on 5 Oct 2018, and he had work permit status for below time periods:
  • 13 Oct 2015-15 Jun 2017
  • 20 Dec 2017-27 Oct 2019
What status do I have to choose when filling "List time with Canadian temporary resident or protected person status" table for the period of 15 Jun 2017-20 Dec 2017? Worth to mention that the person was waiting for CIC decision on his 2nd work permit application during this period.

Thanks

Days in Canada on implied status count the same as any other day before you became a PR, i.e. as half a day up to a maximum of 365 days. When you applied for your second work permit, that extended your status as a temporary resident.

When I applied, I also had a gap period when I was on implied status waiting for my new work permit and also waiting for my PR. I reported the gap and stated I was physically in Canada on implied status as a temporary resident while awaiting the decision. They know what it is.

I had a gap from Sep '16 to Jan-17. Didn't feel the need explain it, you're still a temporary resident on implied status. I figure they of all people would put 2+2 together. They did. AOR received.

They knows everything just mentioned temporary foreign worker, from 2015 to till 2018 with complete dates.

Does that mean that I have to change my date entries as follows?
  • 13 Oct 2015-19 Dec 2017 (including the gap of 15 Jun 2017- 20 Dec 2017)
  • 20 Dec 2017-27 Oct 2019
