hi everyone
can any one plz reply me
i am working in alberta under LCP and my working hours r 32.5 per week.so is 32.5 hours will considered as full time employment?
is it sufficent to become eligible for pr in canada.
plz be kind reply soon. i could not get answer from any where

IMHO since the working hours on your contract is such then you are working full time as per your agreement. There is no definition of full time working hours per week in Alberta.

Hi! How is that possible? Did they get you from overseas? According to the provincial guideline, you have to work 44 hours per week if you are under the Live-in Caregiver Program or you have to be paid 44 hours per week. Nevertheless, 44 hours is the minimum working hours per week for Live-in caregivers.

i 'll b thankful if ANYONE can give me the useful information.
my employer gives me 32.5 hours per week.i am from india,under LCP.
6.5 hours per day.
my employer says it should be fine and will considered as full time.
i want to know that is their any trouble with this at time of pr application after 2 years?
what should i do now,i will complete 2 years this year in august.
i called to cic two times about this but they refer me to call service canada.
service canada advised me to call cic.
so from where should i get this answer?
but i did not read any where on cic website that FULL TIME MEANS 44 HOURS PER WEEK WITHIN 24MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.
CAN ANY BODY PLZ REPLY
PLZ HELP ME.......THANKS ALOT

I don't know if this is the most current but it was updated January 2011.

This is what I found on page 17, regarding applying for PR:

Evidence of having worked full-time as a live-in caregiver for a total of 24 months or a total of
3,900 hours in a minimum of 22 months must include:

You should read page 16 and 17. I'm sorry but it doesn't sound as if you have enough hours at only 32.5/week.

32.5 hours a week x 104 weeks would only give you 3380.

Canada under the LCP. The total of 3,900 hours of full-time employment may be completed in a
minimum of 22 months and may include a maximum of 390 hours of overtime. As part of their
application for permanent residence, live-in caregivers are required to select one of these two
options (24 months or 3,900 hours) for determining whether they meet the LCP employment
requirement.
Live-in caregivers must meet the requirements of the class as specified in R113 at the time of
their application for permanent residence. The live-in requirement is an important element of the
LCP, as there is no shortage of Canadians or permanent residents willing to work as caregivers
on a live-out basis.

This is tough since there is no definition of full time work in the labor code. Found this on the web; not official:

I was hired for a full-time job, but I work less than 40 hours per week, and sometimes, when there is not much work, by boss cuts back my hours to only about 32 hours a week. Is there a minimum number of hours that I must work in order to be “full-time”?

The Employment Standards Code does not define full-time in terms of a number of hours. This may be defined by your employment contract or the personnel policies of your place of employment. If not, you may ask to negotiate a definition of full-time hours with your employer.
