Salamat sa pagshare ng storya mo. I've a strong feeling you're going to be really successful. Very seldom ako nakakita ng mga pinoy na nagkukwento ng mga malulungkot na karanasan nila, moreso yung mga kwento na nakakayurak ng pride, e.g. from being a professor at our country's top university to cleaning the toilets. Sa simula lang yan. I honestly believe your never-say-die attitude will push you to success. Am cheering for you and if you and your family ever visit toronto, meet tayo sagot ko ang double double sa tims, hehe.

I was also from the fsw 2014. I cause a ruckus among the fsw 2013 members (long story) but hindi talaga ako umabot sa cap. na cap reached ako. Good thing nagbukas nung 2014 and all the docs were ready kaya may 4 palang, na send na namin yung fsw application. By december of 2014, we already got our passports stamped. My wife and I took our sweet time preparing for our landing. October yung expiry ng medicals and we landed first week of sept with one month to spare. I never believed those who were saying na, "Kailangan umalis na gad kayo dahil baka ma deny pa kayo sa entry at dahil gawing reason ng immigration officer ay hindi kayo enthusiastic sa pagpasok". BALONEY. KALOKOHAN. A decision as Big as migrating, uprooting yourself from one country to permanently live in another one is a VERY VERY SERIOUS UNDERTAKING and ONE WHICH YOU SHOULD BE VERY THOROUGHLY PREPARED. I resigned from my work with only 3 weeks left till our flight. My wife resigned from hers 2 months before the flight. We were very paranoid about being prepared. Never a moment na nainip ako at naatat sa pagiintay ng flight date namin. That day itself, I was terrified, sad at leaving home, and very excited that we'll finally be in canada.

So we landed first week of september 2015 without any hiccups. Wala rin kami kilala sa toronto, no family, no friends.... stayed in sherbourne (considered as yung tondo ng toronto), downtown, in a cheap one bedroom room. Its a room not an apartment. no living room, small kitchen shared with 3 other rooms. no living room. Its a 15 sq.m room. A double bed for me and my wife, a single bed for my 7yr old boy. no bed frames. some bed bugs. our six luggages. very cramped. For three months we were there but we made it work..... Fast Forward to the present. I'm presently employed with one of the big five banks. My wife will be starting her dream career - she was software QA for a decade but really wanted to be a developer and she got her desired break and will be starting as an junior developer on monday. We've since moved from our 15 sqm room to a 1 bedroom apartment, weve rented for a year. Winter is almost over. almost :)

btw, ate scout, up dil kaba? iskolar ng bayan din ako one time, sa uplb, kaya lang drop out ako sa elbi, 3 semesters lang ako, hehe :D
galing din ng kwento mo kuya, thumbs up sa yo! parehas tayo, we will be moving in Canada in due course without any relatives to stay with meanwhile but yeah God is in control for everything, we trust His plans :)

Sa Coquitlam po kami.
Good for you Scout!! Hanga ako sa mga pinoy na kagaya mo..it is difficult to start here pero magpursige lang dahil kaya naman natin makuha yung gusto natin, tiyaga lang..specialized (icu) nurse ako sa pinas and overseas from almost 8 years before migrating, started sa retail (Target) then nag LPN kse yung RN ang tagal. Nung nagaapply na ako as LPN, no one wants to hire me, imagine ICU nurse ako pero kahit residential walang reply. Nagvolunteer sa hospital sa information booth. Doon ako nakiala as a good worker! so when they knew I was an LPN, one of the managers hired me. Now, I work at VGH full time, all praises sa interview and work ethics ko from managers to co-workers. Nakakataba tlga ng puso lalo na they tell me " we are so glad to have you work with us". Go ka lang..I plan to apply sa UBC for a nurse practicioner course someday.

Hope to meet you someday, I used to live at Coquitlam before moving to Vancouver.

Regards,

All I can say is tiyaga lang, lahat naman tayo dumaan sa pagsubok pagdating sa Canada,
I migrated ALONE, look at my stats for the dates, some of you came here with family,
I moved from province to province and settled in Vancity. Met my husband here and have a super pretty FilCanadian baby. C-section = libre, sa Pinas >50k? may child tax benefit pa dito at uccb.

Di pa nga ako bumalik sa Pinas since 2010, baka babalik lang ako para pumunta sa El Nido hehe, and init kaya dun hehe.

Never give up yun lang :) peace out din :-*

Need some advice from people who have landed already. We are about to purchase our tickets for Toronto using PAL but we have some concerns. Before heading for Toronto, there's a layover at Vancouver for 3hrs and 45 mins. Does immigration process our papers at Vancouver or at Toronto? We are not sure if the 3 hrs and 45 mins is enough time for the "landing process". We may miss the flight for Toronto if this is the case. Thanks in advance for your replies!

Hi Armando, you will land in Vancouver, 3h45m is more than enough for the landing process
but in case you were late just tell the airline desk because of the landing process and they will put you on the next flight.
;)

Hi guys,

Share ko lang po.

Just landed yesterday in Alberta via Calgary to Edmonton. Lesson learned do not book a ticket in a connecting flight with less than 2hours layover. We miss the flight from Calgary going to Edmonton. Ang tagal po namin nkalabas sa calgary immigration and custom dahil sa haba ng pila. But the good side ang bait po ng immigration officers at custom sa mga newly landed immigrants they did not even bothered to check our proof of funds and our list of goods. Since we missed our connecting flight to Edmonton somebody help us from the airport personnel to rebook our ticket to next available flight free of charge.

Hey, guys, does anyone know if claiming 2+ years of driving experience with the LTO certificate in Ontario requires the DFA authentication (red ribbon)?

I've heard AB and BC don't anymore, and the LTO certificate of driving history is enough, but what about ON?

Thanks! :-*
