When planning to immigrate to another country, is it better to look for a partner before moving or wait until after relocating? On one hand, finding a partner beforehand could make it more difficult to move, as they may not want to leave their current environment. On the other hand, waiting could mean missing out on potential opportunities to build a relationship where you currently live. For those who have been in a similar situation, what approach worked best for you?

Hi, I need help with this. I got AOR for my mother with a request to submit PCC, Passport, Updated address, and Email address.

My mother was in the USA from January to July 2024( 7 months), then in Canada from July to January 2025( 5 months), and now just went to the USA 3 weeks back. My mother has a US green card, Indian Citizen, and has Canada super visa. I applied for PR in July when my mother was in Canada and I gave her a Canadian address for her in the PR application. Her case is with CPC Mississauga.

I have the following questions.

PCC:
1.
As per the below AOR, I should get PCC for the current country of residence if they have resided there for 6 months or more. My mother is in the USA but only went there 3 weeks back. however, she lived for 7 months in the USA in 2024. She also has a USA green card. Should I get a PCC/FBI record for the USA?

2.
My mother is an Indian Citizen. As per the CIC website, PCC for India is through BLS. In the USA, I did not find a way to get PCC from BLS. But in the USA, VFS does provide India PCC. Can I get PCC for India through VFS?

Updated residential address:

1.
My mother was in Canada when I applied for PR. But she went to USA 3 weeks back. She has a US green card. She will return from the USA in June 2025. Should I give an update on her USA address? Will it result in her case being moved from CPC Mississauga and result in a processing delay?

2. If changing her address may result in a processing delay then can I still keep her Canadian address as she will still return to her Canadian address in June?

3. If I keep her Candain address, will it result in some issues?
(For example, if I get a medical request and she is still in the USA, will it be an issue?? Or I am taking India PCC from the USA and also taking the FBI record, will they object if I am still keeping her Canadian address?? or do they know from border records that she is not in Canada at present???)

Passport/Travel Document:
1.
As per the AOR letter, I need to provide a passport If the principal applicant's passport has expired or will expire within the next 12 months. My mother's passport has expiry in 2031 and I already submitted it with the PR application. Should I still send it?

FBI Record:

To get a USA PCC/FBI record, my mother needs to give a fingerprint. However, due to old age, she does not have ridges in her fingers and her fingerprints are not readable by fingerprint scanners. Does anyone know what is the solution in this case?

One should have priorities in life, IMHO.

Relationship and marriage comes above immigration, IMHO. If and when you find the right person, put a ring on them and adjust rest of your plans accordingly. Its one of the most important if not the most important decision of your life. With right person you can build your life worth living anywhere. Also, a "no" now is not never-ever. Its just that... a no now.

WHat does this have to do with Express Entry? Wrong thread.

Not much happening lately on this thread.. How's everyone doing?

I keep thinking I should move when I am young, but when it's time to move, I am getting cold feet about moving to Canada. Because Singapore is a quite good country, and all the things on the internet about Canada are quite bad. But, I can only immigrate when I am young, so this is my only opportunity to try a new country. I dont know whether moving will create a better or worse life for me haha. Anybody having cold feet when it's time to move to Canada?

I would say think about the time when you applied. There are pros and cons for both moving and not moving. Think from your career perspective.
I applied for PR in 2019 when I salaries were ok-ok in India, when I got PR in 2022, I was doing great in India. I had cold feet then. I was lucky enough to secure a good role in my field before coming to Canada and then I wasn’t thinking much. You can try same.

I don't know, I think SG is better for making money, but you can't really compare Canada with SG. In Canada, you'll be happier once your economics are sorted because the culture, the love, etc will make you feel right at home. What you hear online is coming from a small minority that only spreads hate and isn't a reflection of what goes in here. Canada is a different type of love, especially if you can sort life's basic out. The issue with most people is that they move here assuming moving to Canada will fix their lack of skills, but it is the other way around.

>I am getting cold feet about moving to Canada.

Getting cold feet is okay. All of us have to make difficult decisions here whether you are worried about parents back home, economic uncertainty, career choices, etc.

Your confidence in moving is all about what you've done so far to prep for it. Have you scoped out job search/job availability? Have you built networks here? Do you have a corpus to sustain nicely while you can search for jobs? etc

More about how much effort you've put upfront makes your post-landing experience better. Most of my journey to Canada is well documented on the forum. My prep placed a decade ahead of most immigrants that are in their life. Moving is all about understand what you'll do economically, how you'll sustain, how you'll grow, etc. Sort those questions and very unclear where you are. Maybe, you are looking for moral support here - hard for me to say.

We are seeing some PFLs around this gamification, but a very large number of people are able to get through and still get PR.
Yup it is sad this gamification I agree none should not try to steal someone else's opportunity. I come from a poor country too so understand the desperation of those doing all that

I had moved to Canada after failing to get an AUS PR. Due to my age, I couldn't qualify even for PNP until I completed 1 year on my CEC and got that 35 Canadian experience points on my CAN WP. When IRCC opened ITAs for non-PNPs in July 2022, I was that 10 points away from the early 500 ish CRS needed get my ITA those days. I didn't get any ITAs for 6-7 months because of this 10-20 points difference. From my work as a hiring manager I was able to see so many LMIA frauds getting PRs as we could see in background checks some these applicants with spurious profiles that didn't match their VISAS etc.. I spent that time negotiating with my HR and employer about getting me the right arranged employment letter I learnt at that time many in large IT firms reuse their WP letter which IRCC sometimes reject but mostly accepts, this 50 point for arranged employment / LMIA frauds is gone too now.

All that time I was trying, I have read in threads like this about this non-accompanying spouse loophole and I simulated a score with non-accompanying and I knew it will take me to an ITA score, but felt this was wrong and had no logic when my wife and 2 kids were already in Canada. IRCC has to be totally ignorant to approve such applications, I used to joke only a dumb agent might approve my application if I was lucky. It is funny that I see some 2023/4 applicants have openly told IRCC that spouse in non-accompanying as to make the applicant qualify for an ITA.

Before I got my ITA my 44th birthday came and I lost 10 points, a week or so later the CRS scores crashed by those 10 points to the 490's. I was getting hopeful even though had it reduced2-3 weeks before I could have got an ITA. Parallelly I had taken an IELTS as the old one I had taken in Australia expired, I got the best IELTS score with that my CRS score increased and my new CRS was 489. Immediately I got my PNP from Ontario that week, as if by luck the total OINP closed in a month. They approved me, I gladly accepted immediately and the day after my PNP appeared the CRS fell lower I would have got an ITA even without a PNP.

Most CEC and FSW who applied with me got their applications approved in 3-4 months. My PNP I was made to wait 8+ months sitting there like a cat on the wall waiting for my application to be approved. From my PNP invite to COPR was 13-14 months, but it was still worth the wait and getting it clean was even blissful.

Good luck to the new applicants who don't have to compete with those who gamed the system by falsely claiming non-companying spouses who were already in Canada.

Good to see this thread is still going strong .

Just came to say my journey has come full circle: I"M OFFICIALLY A CANUCK :cool::cool:!!!

I joined this forum in 2021 when I was moving my family here for school and PR and here we are.

Good luck guys!
Same here started research in 2021, became a member in 2022/3 when I applied for my PR and got it a year later. If all goes well I will be eligible to apply for my Citizenship in 2026.
