Personally, US is good for business, but not a good place to live.Nailed it. In addition to being a place where half the population believes in populists like Trump and nutjobs like Tucker Carlson, imagine being surrounded by so much ignorance.

Yes, I forgot, TRUMP!! I would take Trudeau over Trump any dayNailed it. In addition to being a place where half the population believes in populists like Trump and nutjobs like Tucker Carlson, imagine being surrounded by so much ignorance.
I've been to NYC, and yeah the cities don't really inspire "Quality of Life" either. Don't get me wrong, for sure the US has probably worse cities than say Vancouver or Toronto, what I'm saying is if you want to maximize that "Quality of Life" in Canada, the suburbs is the place you defnitely want to look at, and not inside the major cities. You'd want to look at the outskirts of the metropolitan areas.Yes every country has "Worldwide Taxation" while you are a resident.
Canadian cities might not be organized, but have you seen Harlem in NYC and the South End in Chicago? Parts of the USA are more dangerous than war-zones.... I don't think you will find something like this in Canada
"In Chicago’s 60624 ZIP code, the homicide rate for young men is more than 1,200 for every 100,000, and it’s not the only ZIP code with numbers like this. The average annual deaths per 100,000 for American soldiers who were heavily engaged in combat numbered at 395 in Afghanistan and 330 in Iraq."
Is this something that other users have faced in the past?Call them up on phone. Are you inside Canada? If not consider getting options which will allow you to call ircc cheap.
Congrats on getting wheels turning ) Just FYI, it will take 6-8 months to get L1 approved. I have engaged lawyers as well and that's what they told me. The USA experiences major backlogs with visas. For my L1 the company said they'll get me a lawyer so you're right. But I think subzero was talking about the NIW case so you get your own lawyer.
Call them OR upload a letter of explanation with the original letter being attached and saying that you have no idea what is expected out of you as there is a glitch.Hey guys,
I received a additional document request but the PDF letter does not say which document is required. The bullet point under "we need the following document" is just blank. Also, when I look at the document center on my profile, there is no field to add any new document. The last time I had an ADR, I had an option to add a new document here. Any idea what I should do? I sent CIC a web form but I guess they don't respond to that.
Any help will be appreciated. I have been in this process for 2 years now. Thanks.
What a joke of a country and system. I don't even want to say anything else.https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2023/03/17/canada-extends-international-students-work-permits-for-18-months.html
Canada extends international students’ work permits for 18 months. ‘We’re seeing that the same crisis is repeating over and over,’ critics say
Under a new measure, international graduates with expired postgraduate work permit in 2022 and 2023 will be able to extend their work authorization for another 18 months.
AOR to PPR under 3 weeks, 5 year PGWP after Lambda degree, this country is a joke.
Or we need more PhD uber drivers but I'm just not aware.
That's true. Fragomen, I am looking at you. Most company's have tie ups with law firms and they tend work with them only. But, you can ask if they will allow you to work with other firms. Also, in my friend's case, the HR in the company kept f**king up, and one point the GC process got delayed by an year. In my brother's case, his GC process got delayed due to tax related mistake that attorney's failed to identify at early stage. Americans suck at due diligence. Their mind works one way only. Most of them don't know what multi tasking is.
When I was talking about those issues, members here were telling me that I whine and complain. Welp, financialpost said the exact same thing. It's crazy what is happening in ON right now. If a place in Elmira costed 400K back in 2017, it costs 600K-800K now. ELMIRA!!!! It's literally a town with farms. No life, no decent restaurants.https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-pmn/rents-are-soaring-in-canada-as-surge-of-people-goes-undercounted
Canada’s explosive population growth from immigration is causing rents to surge in its biggest cities. And there’s another problem: The country isn’t even properly counting the number of people who need homes.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government plans to welcome 465,000 new permanent residents this year, and increase the annual target to half a million by 2025. But those often-cited numbers understate the pressure on the country’s limited supply of housing —because they don’t include a wave of foreign students, temporary workers and others with non-permanent visas.
So what we all suspected is finally starting to come out in the open. They don't count the number temporary residents when setting the already low new housing construction targets. Wow.

I think @navinball said it best.I am the opposite. I have a US GC and I am moving to Canada. As a global entrepreneur the “worldwide taxation” aspect of the US doesn’t appeal to me. Also, you don’t get anything for your taxes in the US, in Canada at least you get more benefits. The USA is too religious for my taste. And there are constant shootings. I wouldn’t feel safe sending my children to a school in the US. I enjoyed living there when I was young, very workaholic and felt bulletproof. But, now that I am just about to turn 40 I appreciate quality of life and my family more.
We, that is asians are high context societies. We define ourselves by our individual self, our families and clans and castes and religion and whatever is our context. We communicate implicitly by our context. Racism/clique-nature and closed nature will follow pretty naturally from there.Nice to see them airing their dirty laundry in public. I will always remember the hate and microaggressions I felt over there throughout my life.
I saw a similar thread for chinese as well in /r/toronto. It's good to know its not limited to my folks. Its just the way our society functions I guess.
Actually... yes and no. It might not take 6 months and they do not start the day you submit your app.hi,
