Hi snow,

in our case, my husband is the principal applicant which is an international visa while I have an open work permit as his dependent and kids have dependent visa from their father too...i am working which means i am paying taxes which gives us privilege to send the kids to school for free...after we filed for income tax in 2009, we were able to get GST/HST credit and ontario sales tax and after 18 months, we were able to apply for child tax benefit (though the amount depends if your salary is low, there is a certain amount for a certain salary, we used to get more when my husband is still a student and only me is working but when he started working then our salary combined increased so the child benefits became less too)...

hope i was able to answer your question :)

larxace, I just wanted to confirm with your statement:

1. my husband applied with me as his spouse together with our 2 kids and we didn't encounter any problem at all, no interview, no additional documents, not sure if we are just lucky or we have convinced them that we are coming back after his education, but its a very good try...now both kids enjoyed the free education even if we are still not landed immigrants and we are getting support from gov't. I think you just need to really make sure to convince them that you have a strong tie in your home country, i.e. you own a property, etc...and you have enough funds to show that you can survive here in canada and will not be a liability...
==================

I also have 3 kids and I want to make sure that they can study for free while parents are on a study visa? and what kind of government support you have been receiving for your kids with the status of student visa?did you mean the child tax benefit? please give me more details with regards to your children, thanks

Also, you know once I get there, I get my degree and also got 3 years of open work permit after 4 years of study permit. Now, What My point is that:

Which is the way I will get PR: based on 7 years stay at canada? or the old PR file which is still in RBVO status. Do you think once we get visa for study we should withdraw that file at lest we can get our fees back.

The only point is that our NOC are not in the new list so how will we be able to get PR?

Well i think larxace was lucky as her PR office is Bufallo and her husband applied for student office from Dubai, other wise bufallo has all the details and if applied from bufallo would had been rejected.

so do u mean to say its very risky,,

WQhat I am thinking is that even if I go at qubec still does that matter. Do you think I also should mention that My intention for PR was also to get education from canada and come back

Yap this is risky i guess

chances are 50:50 because if they come to know that one has filed a PR then it would be crystal clear that the purpose of student visa is not solved, so pls keep this in mind and apply, even if u r cleard, ur spouse shall face difficulties joining u there, they may not want him to join there so that u have to come back after studies. these r my thoughts based on inquiry with several leading consultants into student visa.

Dear larxace
hay u know in application form itself we have to declare that we have already applied for PR or not. So what do u suggest for the same. Do you think we should mention them that we have or not. What did u done? this is the end of our story.. If things went wrong. Or u mean we can still convince them that the intention for PR was same to study there?

I am really concern for the same

Hi Kavya,

Sorry for the late response...if there is any question that you need to tell that you applied for PR then you should mention it but if not, then there is no need to do that besides the department processing the student visa is not the same with the ones processing the PR...if you will mention that you have applied, you could mention in your SOP that you want to study to be more competitive in Canadian market or to have Canadian education so you could easily adjust to canada when you get your PR but rest assured whether you get your PR or not you will go back to your home country as soon as you have completed the course and in that way will be able to share to your home country whatever you have learned in Canada...
It is risky indeed but everything here is a risk what can we do...be positive, i don't see any problem with people who already applied for PR wanting to study, the processing is taking so long and people can always change plan...

good luck, hope this helps...

So does one need to inform their visa office for FSW of the relocation and plans of action?
