I am Nov 23rd 2014 applicant, waiting since the med done in May 2015 and hopeful of some update soon.
Thanks guys (especially Diplo..) for sharing the info as it gives some visibility of the process...

Yes, RFV letter is better because it gives you green light to submit your passport for printing whereas DM is only indicative of such letter to emerge in your mailbox, but it can happen next day or within 30 days.

myself and few other people just got PPR 5 mins back..one of them had not even got DM but still got the PPR mail..
SO i would request everyone to check your mailboxes..!!
