I was doing a transaction at Canada Post today and decided to check out the Xpress envelope.

I noticed that there were 2 types: a hard board type envelope and a soft pack type envelope.

Which is the correct one we need to send with passport?

...I got a job offer at a translation bureau in Moscow, where I could put to use my command of Italian and English. I've been to the USA twice, but I was eager to discover Canada as well, so I visited it briefly in 2014, and decided to apply for Master's in Ontario. It worked out and I got my study permit in April, and in May CIC announced a new FSW intake, including 5125 NOC...

That's pretty cool. I love studying and learning languages. At one point when I was younger I thought I'd like to be a linguist/translator. In fact my university major for my Bachelor's degree was English/Linguistics. I have a minor in Spanish and am fully fluent (near native) in Spanish as well as English (my native language). I also studied French and almost got a minor in it as well. I don't speak it as well as Spanish though. I also took one course in German and one in Russian, but unfortunately has a poor instructor in Russian and didn't learn much. What are all the languages you know well? What was your Master's area of study? Canada is so multicultural that I'm sure you will have an easy time finding a job in translation.

I am very surprised that you've chosen Canada over the U.S. All of the U.S.-based applicants I know of, have lodged an application for Canadian PR because they can't get their immigration status in order stateside.

I could write a novel here to explain my reasoning but here I'll just say that there are multiple reasons why Canada is a better option, not just than the US but many other countries out there. I'd be glad to PM my reasoning to you so as to avoid an excessively long post here.

I see you just landed last month. Congratulations!

I'd be interested in hearing why you wanted to leave the UK to come to Canada. The UK is another place I (in theory) thought would be a good place to move. I've never been there though so that's why it's all theory. ;D

On the other hand, I have been to Canada & love it!

My PER date is 5th feb 2015 & app date is 17th Nov 2014. Still waiting for MR too.

Hi, Just a quick one to get my understanding straight. Shouldn't you receive an AOR mail before you get the MR request? and the AOR mail takes around 2-3 months and then the Second line gets updated and you wait for another 15- 30 days to get your MR mail?

They received it on FEB. 23 (based on GCMS notes).

Hello, Sorry to ask but what is the GCMS notes? and how do I send them? I called CIC a couple of weeks ago and they told me my file is still in Sydney but will be sent to Ottawa. So will I expect an email (an AOR Mail) from them informing me officially that my file was transferred to Ottawa? thanks for your help. ;D

You can learn it through a cooperative call center agent or look it up yourself in your GCMS file.

Thanks Jithesh69 for the link. But the CIC states that "To send a request you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently in Canada." which doesn't apply for me so is there another way I will be able to follow up with my file?

If you have friend/family in Canada, they can apply on your behalf. I did it through a friend of mine a month back and waiting now. You can IM me for any questions on this.
