Hello everyone trust we are all doing great.

Praise God with me for His mercies. We left Nigeria on July 5, 2016 for Toronto via Emirates. It was a long journey of 7hrs + to Dubai and another 13 hrs + to Toronto. We landed at about 4pm on July 6 and headed to the immigration after which we were directed to the officers reasonable for paper work. The queue wasn't that long as there were just about 6 people before us but by the time we were leaving, the queue had grown very long. The lady who attended to us was quite friendly and only asked some basic questions including how much we had for POF which she didn't ask to see or the evidence of the balance. Service Canada had issues so we were advised to obtain our SIN from anyone close to where we would stay. Next point of call was the customs which had a very long queue but we had to endure the wait as we wanted to get our excel sheet of list of goods to follow stamped, as we had sent 250kg of food & other personal items through air cargo the day before. We got all the necessary paper work and will not be charged any duties when we go and pick them.

We didn't realise that Service Canada was different from Service Ontario so we walked a 30 minutes in the hot sun to Service Ontario and met a very long queue. On getting to our turn at Service Ontario, we were told we had to go to Service Canada which was going to be another 45 minutes walk (the area we stayed in Ajax doesn't have a good transit system). Fortunately we saw a bus and the driver said he could take us but then he wouldn't collect cash for bus fares. We had to beg o and said we were JJC Canada :D. He allowed us and dropped us off at the stop of Service Canada. The obtaining of the SIN was very simple and short after which we went to the bank. We met very friendly people all the way who were willing to help and provide information even if it's not them you are asking from..noticed everyone we met today talked about the weather.

Onto the next level is our home search in an area that transit is easily accessible and would probably be close to potential work area.

I pray that everyone still awaiting one feedback or the other from CIC will have their testimonies on this forum veryyyyyyyy soon.

Have a pleasant evening.
Aroms-as promised!

Dear Good friends,

Trust all is well with you. I haven't been here in a while, Just got frustrated about everything.

I am a July 2014 Applicant and has been on the long queue. My application has gone funny as my medicals expired last month. My family and I have been on the long wait for PPR since about a year now. We requested for GCMS note which we got feedback on. GCMS note shows medical expired and PoF now 2k CAD less of the minimum amount for a fam of 3 (This is due to exchange rate issue), when we submitted it was over 19k CAD. But the major reason for delay seems to be the security search

I am really tired and tried to mail them a couple of times and the only one they responded to says "Application in progress and we should minimize communication".

I am trying to stay optimistic and build up another PoF should they wake up from their slumber but its hard working in the dark and no comunication at all from them

I am sure i am the only one of June 2014 Applicants.

Please someone advice.

Regards,

Dear funshiba ..... you are not the only one currently experiencing this , there are many others still waiting for updates that applied before you , some have not even done medicals at all while others have their medicals expired..... the consoling fact is that this lull currently been experienced cuts accross all the visa offices owing to the change in the moderm for processing , as from march 2016 IRCC no longer adopts the fast track system even though they have an inventory of applications on queue,
The early break that was occassioned by the may 2016 fire outbreak did not help matters.. but there is hope that processing is about continuing again as evidenced by the activities of the london visa office. its pertinent to know also that no two application is the same , most of those that got quick processing had been captured on cic data base before the 2014 stream came on board while others belong to the canaduan experience class , the size of family is also.a factor in processing and most first timers are certainly going to have to be more looked at during screening and this takes time and more resources.
in.all patience is the key and keeping a prayerful and positive posture realy helps.
As is our slogan here no matter how long ,it will surely end in praise .
my ten cents ......use this period to develop yourself , do more inquisition into how best to settle in.canada and build up your funds reserve.

Thanks. Which specific centre did you go to? Is it true that one has not more than 60 days after landing in Ontario to get this done?

I used the one in Brampton. The first time i went they said no, but i went again and the person I met just accepted it without any questions. So when my wife went and they said no, she insisted they call a senior person and they finally agreed to accept her experience even with the expired temporary licence from Nigeria. Although we already had the letter fron the Nigeria High Commission.

You can get this done anytime. The 60 days applies to the maximum number of days you can use your international drivers licence as you are expected to have gotten the Canadian drivers licence.

Hi members, i am a bit confused about this driving process in Ontario. What documents can one submit to the embassy @ Ottawa to skip g2? I have the letter from FRSC as well as international drivers license. Second question is what documents should be provided before doing the g1 test? Can one also submit his/her expired temp license to Ottawa to get the letter?

Hi. The letter is to authenticate the license stating date of issue, expiry date, license number, years of driving and if you have a clean driving record without any suspension. You will send your letter of request to info@frsc.gov.ng

Please what specific letter would one request for from FRSC concerning driver's licence in Ontario and where can one make this request in Lagos?

Thanks so much Abim, so when I send the request to the email address the letter will be sent to my email as well? Is any fee charged? What is the average time in getting the letter after request is made?.... Thanks for your help
