there comes another philosopher and god. Assumptions are mother of all goof ups. I was ROFL. The CC reader machine was not working from 23-31st. How abt that. Once more ROfL

If the CC reader machine was not working, there would be no charge in other categories also, so that just doesn't make sense. I was trying to analyze the situation and not make many assumptions.

It seems you like ROFL a lot :)

DEAR MEMBERS AND OTHER ADMINS

I AM TRYING TO OVERHAULING THE SPREADSHEET AS ITS GROWING MUCH BIGGER AND HARDER TO MAINTAIN BY ADMINS.

WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST IS...

1. Our main spreadsheet would contain Name of applicant, Date of App. Rcvd, Date of App. Sent, Pay mode, Application Trf.
From this point onwards, local VO is responsible for handling the case and hence, rest will be on NOC sheet.
a) Since CIO works on FIFO methods, this parent spreadsheet would be helpful for the current processing date at CIO.
b) It would load much faster and would be helpful for low speed internet users...

2. Separate sheet for each NOC would be created with all other details and hyperlink will be placed on main spreadsheet so when user click on particular hyperlink user will be taken to that particular entry in respective NOC spreadsheet and focus will be set on that particular applicant

Any suggestion and Ideas are always welcomed by admins and me...

Please suggest immediately as I have already started working on it in my spare time...

I think Admins are people who are handling the spreadsheet here, the most valuable data on which the whole discussions, as you want it be, should be based.

Let me remind you my friend, the data is coming from the new members joining day by day. Some of them are still in process of filing their applications just like we were at some point of time. If we all cannot help each other (nobody is senior or junior here, it is an open discussion forum), how will Admins be able to get more data for the spreadsheet.

Nobody here should be particularly responsible for answering the questions but everybody should be actively involved in helping each other and discussing issues they are facing.

You do not need to answer same questions again and again, but someone else who has learned from you will answer it for a newbie and that's the way knowledge spreads.

Be ready for discussions if you are a member of a forum. That is reason for all of us to be here.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

~ Amit

It would probably be best to direct your post to the person who made the original reference to ADMIN/Seniors as I totally agree with you that "Nobody here should be particularly responsible for answering the questions but everybody should be actively involved in helping each other and discussing issues they are facing". I only made reference to "ADMIN/Seniors" simply because that's the term used by the original poster (thats I why I even referenced the term in quotes).

Like I have said though, I don't agree with duplicate post/questions. I don't mind the occasional duplicate post/questions......but as you can see from the various threads/posts on this forum, duplicates are not occasional, duplicates are the norm.

I completely disagree with you that knowledge spreads by answering the same question over and over (even if it is someone else that is answering the same question). Afterall, what would be the purpose of creating a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) section where "newbies" can go to find answers to their frequently asked questions then?

The "knowledge" becomes fragmented/corrupted when the same questions are being asked and answered over and over, no new knowledge is being added and documented. Nothing new is being learnt.

I hardly even post or come to the forum anymore, simply because there isn't any new original questions being asked or discussed. I hardly learn anything from the forum anymore, simply because no new questions are being answered. It's like I am not contributing anything to the forum anymore and I am not gaining anything from the forum anymore....besides, I also really don't like going off topic (like I have probably just done).

What is so difficult with a "newbie" at least doing some research before posting a question? You have to also understand what makes (some) "ADMIN/Seniors" reluctant to even answer (some) duplicate questions, the reluctance is likely based on the fact that after reading the question you can clearly see that the person asking the question was just too lazy to take a few minutes to check Google or search the forum....the person simply just went ahead and started a new thread asking a question that's been answered 10-20 times before....or the person just went ahead and created a new post in a thread (e.g, FSW 2013 Applicants Timeline- Lets Network Here) asking a question that's been answered 10-20 times before in the same thread.....a perfect example of this can be seen in the FSW 2013 Applicants Timeline- Lets Network Here thread.....just go through a few of the pages and you will see.

Should have done this initially, anyway, just want to also add +1 for ursk2792's first response to the original post:

I am sorry to say this. Even admins are just people who applied for this program and have their own lives. They might be busy and might not answer all the questions posted here. Also there are repeated questions. for every 10 ques, more than half of the questions will be about future cap status. I know many applicants are worried about CAP's even I will be in that list. But asking the same questions again and again will increase number of pages but of no use.

Introducing FAQ was very good idea and I appreciate it very well. I also think posting link to FAQ is a good idea because here in this forum almost 80% of questions are repeated ones. If a person is capable of posting a ques, I totally believe that he/she is capable of opening FAQ link as well.
Also one more advantage would be, not only one question can be answered. If the applicant got few more doubts, they will be cleared as well instead of posting more and more questions.

As far as I consider, admins are doing their best in keeping updated spreadsheet and certainly there is nothing to be blamed from their part.

Thanks amit,

I do want to share my info...but as u know...bit sentimental...let me get my PER and sure will be there for the forum always....I think so many people like me would be there around....initially I was not like this..but as things are not working out...have to make some adjustments....but as u know I belong to 2263 group, app sent May 17 at 2:16 p.m., DD encashed July 31 (came to know from my bank people).

All the best to other guys and may god bless all.

Thanks for ur wishes.

Its human nature to be sentimental after waiting for almost 3 years but if u look at the spreadsheet, there are more than 500 applicants from all over the world. In 2011, there were only 250 applicants so u can imagine how this year spreadsheet has grown and helped many people understand the real situation considering CIC updates are of no help. Sharing your info will help others and u also in a way that more people will pray for u.
More the prayers better is d result. People can also support u and advise u in case of any difficulty.
