Hi Javiya,

Can you please guide, Where and when to Apply for PR Card.

Is it possible to come back to own country after one week and get the PR card.

Thanks!!
Yes, you can come back the next day if you want. But in that case, you would not have the PR card with you. It normally takes 50-60 days for PR card to be delivered at the address that you would mention.

PR card cannot be sent out of Canada at any cost as it is illegal!(Only you can take it outside Canada) Moreover PR card is the medium for re-entry into Canada & NOT the Visa. Visa is valid only for the first time (single) entry!

So, in that case, the only option left with you is to approach VFS or NDVO directly & pay some 50 odd CAD to get additional travel document in lieu of PR card that can be shown to the immigration authorities upon landing. It normally takes 3 to 7 working days to get this document from NDVO.

Please check the following link for the travel document:

Hope it helps. :D ;D

As Indian , I am not in accord with your statement.

Besides, I have been reading how some answered very rudely to your queries...

Anyways,,,, think before saying sumthing bro.....
God bless :)
mate his queries were answered rudely may be because he wants instant answers without doing any research whatsoever. And to top it all cheeky fella shows us attitude. His last query about WES thing was answered by me... and he posted it again thinking all will jump to spoonfeed him. This young man feels that forum will act like google for him. And now he has played the "Indian" card... Possibly the dumbest thing to do on a forum where over 50 percent of the members are Indian. Ohh this is personal now!!! ;D ;D

ps: if you are saving money by not hiring a consultant then its YOUR job to do your research + homework. Dont expect forum members to spoon feed you with answers.

1. Is this Travel document is substitute to PR card...

2. On vfs website it is written as - "Return to Canada (for Permanent Residents) - Travel Document" : So is this the option made for those who want to return to own country without PR card.

3. Do you know the validity of this travel document...

Thanks!!

Dear Forumites,

This question has been asked in the past, but I couldn't find the exact post and hence repeating the questions.

Apart from the VFS consent form and the documents requested such as Medical Exam proof ,DD for RPRF, Letter to the High commission, PCC & passports,, what else is required by VFS to send the documents to the High commission.
Your inputs will be invaluable to me as I am approaching VFS tomorrow morning.

Thank you,
Rao

I have heard that many new immigrants stayed in Canada for say 2 weeks and got back. They had their PR Card delivered to their friend's mailing address in Canada and then moved the PR card out of Canada and back to them. This is a complete different story though.

1. Is this Travel document a substitute to PR card... Yes, in a sense it is a substitute for PR Card (Until you have the PR card with you), only for a single entry though unlike PR card with which you can move in & out of Canada any number of times you want. So once you come back to India without PR card in your possession, plan your next visit carefully because i have heard NDVO asks a lot of questions if they are to provide the Travel Document to the same person more than once.

2. On vfs website it is written as - "Return to Canada (for Permanent Residents) - Travel Document" : So is this the option made for those who want to return to own country without PR card. Yes

3. Do you know the validity of this travel document... Sorry brother, I don't know the validity of this document. Although, I am planning to call up NDVO tomorrow to get more info. on this.

Thanks!!

Exactly!! You yourself mentioned illegally :p So, I'd suggest not to take this illegal route because you never know when the Gods & the Odds become against you :p ;D :D

I, myself, am planning to enter Canada through Niagara via the USA as I would be going for an official trip to the States in June. But then to complete the resignation & other formalities of serving the notice period, I would be coming back after a week or so. I would then opt for this same Travel Document by paying some INR 3000 rather then being in a soup over doing something illegal :p :D

I would tremble to think of a situation wherein i get debarred to enter Canada if the authorities somehow get to know about illegal transfer of PR card out of Canada :(

A permanent resident can also legally re-enter Canada at the US/Canada border with a private/rental car without a PR card by simply showing the COPR.

Another Scenario, consider that you want to go to Canada for just a week & then you want to come back. You plan your next visit within 30-40 days. There is a high possibility that the PR card would not have been delivered within this time frame. What other options do we have then? None :p :D It's highly unlikely that you would wait only for PR card to be delivered to the address mentioned if in case you get called for an interview within this time period. You should be ready with the Travel Document!

Well, this is just one scenario. There could be others as well. ;)

Right! This is applicable if someone re-enters Canada through any of the borders by foot or by a private vehicle not by a Commercial vehicle like a plane, train, boat or bus in which case Travel Document is mandatory. Correct me if i am wrong Rawdah :D
