Hi Folks

Please I have a Bachelor and Master degree in Civil Engineering, and in the past five years I worked in 2 fields (Geotechnical & Transportation Engineering). Given that Civil Engineer occupation is almost filled with applicants (244 out of 300), I am thinking of applying under Geological Engineers occupation, actually my main duties as a Geotechnical Engineer is matching this occupation (Geological Engineers - 2144) not (Civil Engineers - 2131)

What do you think guys? I feel like my chances will be high if I applied as a Geological Engineer not Civil Engineer since they have only 60 applicants out of 300. But the thing is that all my previous education was in Civil Engineering (actually Geotechnical Engineering is part of Civil Engineering studies in my country) So, does it really matter in assessing my application?

Please advice.

no if CAP is full than it will be returned and next time new queue (depends upon new system as they are planning to launch EOI system form next time but will start in jan 2015)

To apply for a particular occupation list you have to have minimum years of experience irrespective which field you have studied. In my opinion, if your current job description matches with CIC mentioned Geological occupation you better apply for this instead of civil engineering. You will be definitely within the CAP.

next year CIC plan to adopt EOI system (same like australia), for list and possible NOC no one can say anything but civil engg demand in canada is high so there are better chance to be in. btw new program will start form jan 2015

Hi Tamerzz, yes you can still apply to Geological Engineer NOC, yet you have to provide proof that you are working as such.

For example, you have to prepare a detailed job description highlighting every detail what you have done to prove that you know the applied NOC.
It should be signed and attested by your HR or Supervisor in a company letter head and you have to attached the business card of your HR or Supervisor. In that way CIC can call the person who attested your capability for the subject NOC applied.

there is some time gap for each noc so do not worry wait for a week, you will here form CIC
