This is just a vent post, needed to do it somewhere or I was going to blow up.

This process is so frustrating, especially for someone like me that is very impatient typically. I am not impatient if I have solid dates, but being in the realm of not knowing suck!!!

Called my hubby last night because I had not heard from him after he got off work, turns out his car died. It is being looked at right now, however, it is not looking good and we cannot afford to repair it. We were hoping it would just last 1-2 more months and then he could come up here until his PR was approved.

Now if the car is dead we will have to have him here for the end of July instead of end of August or early September like we had planned. If he has no car, he has no way of working, no work means no money. No money means cannot pay rent/bills. Argh!!!!

I am scrambling this morning to make a detailed to do list just in case we do only have one month before he comes up. If the car can be fixed the list will still be helpful, however outcome is not looking good.

I am not complaining about my hubby coming up, oh god no. But we are so financially strapped for cash as is, the both of us living on my salary alone will be tough. *sigh*

And to top it all off, still waiting for the stupid FBI check to come back before we even submit out application....*bites fingernails*

Thanks for reading and sorry to vent out.

I'm in the same boat... still waiting on the FBI record check to come back before we can even submit the application.

Hopefully things work out with the car. :)

I am heading to Canada for a long "visit" at the end of July as well. My lease for the apartment is up by then I asked my friend to let me stay if I get sent back at the border. I am not keeping the apartment since the rent is very high and its very difficult on my finance.

We sent our application (and it arrived to Mississauga this morning!) without the FBI certificate since my 1st set of prints got rejected after 7wks 3 days of waiting. I have included the other police certificates from my state and Japan (cuz I lived for 7 months when I was 19).

I understand your frustration..hopefully soon you will get to send the PR application!

I am so nervous about crossing the border in July! Wish someone could come with me lol (really!) :-[

Well....the car is a write off, over 2k to fix it and it is a 1999 VW Bug....not worth it...

*sigh*

Now we are looking into our options...how much would a month rental be, could we find a cheap clunker that would get him through a month or two before moving here, or if it possible to buy a Canadian side car that he can use while down there and then easily bring up when he moves.

So many things to research....ack!

There is something in the US called "rent-a-wreck" which are basically older model cars for rent by the day, week, or month at vastly reduced rates compared to the big national chains. Often you can get a better deal from the big guys if you tell them your car needs repair as opposed to needing one for vacation. Might want to check these options since it would only be a month or so.

Also, consider asking friends and family for a lender car. My parents each have a car, plus they have a truck that they often loan to friends who need to haul things. I know a few couples who have more cars than drivers. Just be sure to work out the insurance if you borrow someone's for a long period.
