Is there a limit to how frequently or how much total time US Citizens can visit Canada in a six month period?

If my fiance moves to Canada on a student visa, and I visit her several times per week am I violating any border rules or laws? Would I become a resident inadvertently if I slept in Canada almost every night?

Basically, my work needs to be done in the USA, so I would be driving back to the USA and rent an apartment in the USA to work at least once per week, but probably 3-4 times per week to do work and then would probably cross back and sleep in Canada every night to be with her.

It's probably going to be six months to a year until her US visa is approved, so I just wondered if this is possible before we spend the money and move her around.

Yes you can run into problems if you are spending too much time in Canada as you can’t live in Canada. Sleeping in Canada every night would not be recommended.

Eventually you’d probably be stopped at the border and turned around back to the USA. Remember, you’re a visitor until told otherwise. Visitor don’t enter the country each night to stay & sleep .

Hmmmm.. I guess I just have to figure out what visa I can qualify for but still maintain my job in the United States. Student visa or NAFTA Professional or NAFTA Investor. Not sure which would be the ideal choice.

I'm like the opposite of all the visas. I don't want to stay permanently or work. I just want to stay in Canada with my fiance for several months and spend money.

There is no visa that allows you to sleep in Canada while working in the US unless you get PR.

I don't see the NAFTA route working. NAFTA professional would require you to have an employer and qualifying job in Canada. A US job won't work. The NAFTA investor work permit is a pretty involved. It requires you to set up a business in Canada and make a substantial investment in that business in Canada.

The study permit route would require you to be studying in Canada full time in a program that is at least 8 months in length.

Hey the investor visa is involved, but it looks like there is no full time work in Canada requirement right? Just "supervise" the employees.
