Hello All,

I am writing in to know the formalities to be completed after landing Canada. I got PR in April 2015 and would like to visit Canada in January 2016. I am not sure when and where to apply for PR card and how much time it takes to issue. I would like to come back to India within 10 days and would like to move permanently in 2 to 3 months.

Can anyone share your inputs regarding applying and getting my PR card? Also, are there any temporary housing available for 10 days? Please fill in your inputs.

Thanks and Regards,
Chandu

You don't have to apply for the PR card. That's done for you when you land. It comes in the mail a few months later (depending on the processing times).

So I can enter Canada and come back to my home country? Later, I can go permanently. Please advise.

You need to enter canada before the expiry date on your COPR/visa. It's usually 1 year from your med report.

When you land as a PR, you'll need a Canadian address for your PR card to be sent to.

You can do what's know as a "short" landing, I.e. Land to validate your PR status then return to your home country.

Once you have "landed" as a PR, you need to spend at least 730 days/5 years to in Canada to maintain your PR status. The first 5 yr clock starts ticking from the date you land as a PR.

Hi All,

I am going to land in Canada on 24th January 2016 for a short duration to activate my PR card. Within a week I will come back to my home country and later in 2 months I will move permanently to Canada. Here, I would like to Know during my one week stay in Canada, do I need to take any Health Insurance? If yes, please advice which one is the best one.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Chandu

You won't have any medical coverage when you land so get a medical insurance through your bank or travel agency.

Hi,

I have landed on Canada on January 23rd, 2016 for one week to activate my PR card and I have returned back to India. I gave my friend address in Canada for PR card to be delivered at. I received a mail saying that the PR card cannot be issued as photos submitted at the time of entry in the airport doesn't match with the specification and requested me to send latest photos with new specification. I sent them in first week of April and did not hear anything from CIC.

Can you please let me know how much time does they take to issue PR card? will they deliver it to the address given at the time of entry? Once I receive my PR I am planning to move to CA. IS there any telephone number or website to reach out to them to know the status of my PR card?

Please share your experience on this.

Regards,
Chandu

Where did you send the photos from? India or Canada?

I send those Photos to my friend and he sent it from Canada to Immigration team.

Please let me know when can I expect my PR card.

Thanks,
Chandu
