Thanks for your response, the below quotation is directly from the letter I received from them.

You submitted proof of cohabitation dated in 2014 only. Please provide additional proof of cohabitation as proof that you have been residing together since 2011/10/07 as you indicated on your application.

The date 2011/10/07, is the date we first entered our relationship, which is the date I mistakenly put on the Generic Application Form, as we have established, this is completely incorrect and should've been the date a year after we first started living together. Do you think it's still lack of evidence for first year we lived together or the fact there is no evidence of cohabitation between the date we entered the relationship and the date we moved in together (obviously, there is no evidence of cohabitation between these two dates).

Most people mistake the date they start living together with the date they became Common-law , you seem to have entered a whole different date on your form .
you will need an expert advise , as you may want to correct the info you submitted , that might create an issue with CIC .
ask an expert before you do anything

Write a little letter explaining your mistake. State the exact date that you moved in together and the date of becoming common-law, exactly one year later. Get more proofs going back to the day you moved in together, things that actually show you were both at that same address from that point on. You need to prove at least a full continuous year of living together to be common-law.

A small update.

Nearly two months have passed since I started this thread. The week after my last reply I sent a letter explaining the mistake, more evidence and some of the same proof of cohabitation from our original application.

I didn't hear anything back, not a word. I had no way of knowing if they had received it.

Finally, after seven and a half weeks I received an email last Friday from CIC informing me that I "meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class", which I assumed was AIP.

And then yesterday, I received an email from CIC-Calgary saying that I have a Landing Appointment on the 26th of May, 2016. I was a little concerned at first as I didn't receive anything about DM, then I did some research and this does appear to be my 'Landing interview' letter.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice back in March. That was not an enjoyable time for us.
