Hello everyone... I would like to be sure I am doing this right... I am a Canadian (born in Canada). I am sponsoring ONLY my wife... we have a son, I am not sponsoring him because I only need to do Proof of Canadian Citizenship and he'll be ok. I have never sponsored anyone else before. if someone reads this and this is your situation, then please tell me if I am filling this out correctly... Thank you guys for your time reading this and replying if you can offer assistance. This email I received from the person reviewing my file asked me to send this in again and make sure it is correct, but I don't see where in the world I did something wrong. The only thing that I could change this time is my personal income which went up... everything else has stayed the same... the email was vague and i can't reply to it. Wish it would have said something more specific!! This is the form I'm talking about...

On Page #2 I put down N/A everywhere except the last box where I wrote my son's name... That should be it... I don't want to have another problem so if you can double check that this sounds right, I'll feel more comfortable... I read the guide carefully and don't see where I made an error.
 
You and I are in the exact same position...you are correct...that's how I did it...there is no error...what is the VO talking about?? You filled that form exactly how it should be done. The only thing I could see being wrong would be entering "0" instead of "Not Applicable"...I just wrote "Not Applicable" for everything on page 2 until it gets to the part where I need to fill in my son's name and birth date.

As for the income section, I just gave the amount from Jan 1, 2011 to Dec 31, 2011 (which matches the "Employee Statement of Earnings and Benefits" I submitted in conjunction with my Option C explanation). It is not entirely clear regarding the 12-month period, and most people go by Jan 1 to Dec 31 for annual income etc...hope that won't be a problem!!!

How old is your son? Mine is 5.5 months...a growing concern...and a superstar here in China...the people here can't get over how "white" he is...haha...funny...but cool.

Well this is an important subject then!! my son is 21 months old... he will be here for his birthday with me though :) I hope it's permanent!!
If some people who were approved and filled it out the same way, then I'll feel ok. I wish in the instruction guide they would give a couple of hypothetical examples, then it would make so much sense and there would be no problems.
 
I just edited my original response. It's probably the "0" thing instead of what the guide says to do, i.e. "Not Applicable"

Oh, and you shouldn't enter "0" in those boxes...just leave them blank!

I'd ask CharlieD10 just to be sure...but from what I know, just leave those boxes on the first page blank...only enter numbers where applicable...second page just do what you did, i.e. Not Applicable"...then enter your son's name where applicable...plus birth date...

The guide doesn't say to enter anything into those boxes unless applicable...at least that's my understanding...but yeah, they ought to be more precise with their instructions.

My husband just ignored all the boxes that didn't apply. He didn't put the zero in them, as I recall, and it didn't make a difference. He filled in the 1 for me where it applied, and then added the totals where applicable. It didn't affect his approval. I wouldn't put N/A in the boxes where a number should be, just where information is expected, but I suspect it wouldn't make a difference either.

We put zeros instead of leaving them blank, and it worked for us.

So I think it doesn't really matter one way or another.
 
So then why would the VO ask him to correct it and re-send?

Also, if I put the 12-month period as being from Jan 1, 2011 to Dec 31, 2011 (official 12-month period which matches the total earnings for Q3 and also the statement from my employer included with my application), will that be a problem?

I don't get it either... I ended up making that paper 2 times.. on one I wrote "0" and the other i left blank.. i attached a note saying to use which ever one he wants and to shred the other :) So he'll have it any way he wants. I just know that I want this whole Immigration thing to be over and live with my family... I will look back at this website and help answer questions I know the answer to.. so i can help others.. but I hate thinking that someone who is kind of a judge in court will decide whether or not I get to live with my family.. SO I just have to make sure that person is happy by giving them whatever it is they say they need from me. The only reason it's so difficult is because of all the bad people who try to come over to Canada. If everyone was normal, they wouldn't have to use a fine tooth comb to look through every little detail... sadly it is that way.
