Dear All,

I am planning to land (as the primary applicant) in a few weeks from today and my wife & daughter will be landing at a later stage. DO i (as a primary applicant) have to prepare a list with Goods to Follow or can she do it (as List of Goods she will be bringing + Goods to Follow) when she comes at a later stage?

Can anyone help me with this question?
Thanks.
Regards,
Stav

Hi, I move from LA to Mexico for the interview, leaving my collection of Video Games, and i want to import them to Vancouver, since I am moving in with my wife. Do i need to add them to my Goods to Follow?

Dear Friends,

Can any one provide some clarity here upon following;

1. What is the difference between B4 and B4a forms?
2. Do we have to take both in 2 copies for CBSA?
3. Is goods to follow list and accompanying list both attached with B4 or B4a?

Kindly help me in clearing my confusion.

Regards,

My husband and i are landing in Toronto in a couple of days. I am a returning citizen. He's a new pr who will be landing for first time. Do we each have separate b4 forms. As i am returning resident( i have been outside Canada for 2+ years and he is "settler"? Will he qualify as settler if he plans to return in about a month to his home country to complete his resignation formalities before moving permanently to toronto? Just confused as settler is implied as intending to establish residence in excess of 12 months?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Friends,

Can any one provide some clarity here upon following;

1. What is the difference between B4 and B4a forms? B4a is only an extension of B4. Use it only if you run out of space on form B4. I used an excel sheet instead of form B4a
2. Do we have to take both in 2 copies for CBSA? One copy is for CBSA and one copy is for you.
3. Is goods to follow list and accompanying list both attached with B4 or B4a? Form B4 is the goods accompanied and the goods to follow list.. Which list do you want to attach?

Kindly help me in clearing my confusion.

Regards,
You need to fill one form B4 for goods accompanied (2 copies) and one form B4 for goods to follow list (2 copies).

If you are not bringing any taxable items later or have booked cargo, do not bother to fill form B4, it will be a waste of time then.

According to CBSA: Persons entering Canada to become Permanent Residents without the intention of residing immediately in Canada are not considered Settlers to Canada since they do not have any intention of remaining in Canada at that time, and will live outside Canada for an undetermined period of time. Therefore, under customs legislation, these persons are considered visitors to Canada, even if they are Permanent Residents for immigration purposes.

If your husband is not planning on taking up residence immediately in Canada and plans to go back and clear is prior commitments, he is not a settler. However CBSA has been known to be lenient towards new immigrants and they do stamp their forms B4 even if they clearly mention they will be returning in a few weeks time, however there is always the exception and many members on this forum have run into CBSA officers who have refused to accept the goods to follow list during short landings.

May I ask if you actually have some taxable cargo coming in or you are just covering your bases?

Hi Folks:

Question regarding "Goods to Follow". We are packing our belongings in the US and will have the movers come to take them to Toronto. Here is the problem, the movers will actually cross the border a day before us... can this be done?

The moving company insists all they need is a copy of COPR and B4/B4a, and that they will take our belongings to their storage hub near Toronto. When we get there, we would clear our things at a local customs office... anyone done this before? Anyone see a problem?

Thanks,
Cam
The only problem is that your form B4 won't be stamped till you land yourself. CBSA will also give you a receipt of the goods to follow along with you copy of B4, which will have a file number and your date of landing. The file number will be used when you go to get your goods from customs.

As it is a new car, please make sure it meets all the requirements for importing the car into Canada: http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5048-eng.html & http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/dm-md/d19/d19-12-1-eng.html

I'm going to land this month, but only for a day or two. I will come back to US and return with my family after 2-3 months.

Do I need to include my car in the GTF? What should be the category for that?

Dear Friends,

Does anyone know how can I use the option of "Goods to Follow" for the items I want to get to Canada but are over and above my baggage quota now. As must have happened with many, we are finding out that if we pack out stuff, it will be like 10 bags now and we can carry only 6. One option is to pay for extra baggage to airlines and carry those additional bags with us. But that will be so costly (airline is charging USD 200 per extra bag of 23 kgs).

So, the question I am trying to ask is: Do anyone know of any other cargo kind of option to send our bags at cheaper rates, which may follow us later after landing? I saw messages earlier on some forums here where people go and pick up such bags from the airport in Canada after 2/3 days of landing. Is that a cheaper option to send your extra items?

Please confirm if anyone knows about this, thanks

Does goods to follow means the items that you will bring in your next visit? Like if you are planning to return from Canada after six months of landing and bring in some goods? Or does it mean the goods that you booked in cargo to be followed in few days?
