Dear Viewers and Moderator

I would like to learn the following in case of foreign skilled workers :

1) Does the work permit get issued only for a maximum of 4 years for the life regardless how many employers are there ?
2) Is it the duty of the Employer to notify Canadian Immigration in case they terminate a foreign worker ?
3) Does the work permit automatically extinguish when the Foreign Worker gets terminated by the Employer and the Worker returns home ?

My case is that my work permit was originally issued in 2011 for one year, was renewed for 3 years until 2016. I got terminated in late 2013 due to cost savings exercise and that is understandable. However I do not know if the previous work permit was issued to me with COMPANY XYZ as employer and I am going to get another job in Canada in 2016 . Should the immigration authority stop issuing me a work permit (yes I have considered all LMO process here) stating my total 4 years have lapsed.

Whom should I ask for exact official version of the above ?

regards

RD John
