Foreign worker path to PR

Hello,

I am currently residing in Ontario, Canada and have a Post Graduate Work Permit obtained after I finished my studies last year in Quebec. However, since I could not work in Canada, I am working for a US employer and should complete one year soon. Is the Federal Skilled Worker Program my only chance to obtain PR? It seems like no draw has taken place since a while, and I need advice on alternative paths that I may be missing.

What's your NOC? What's your EE score? Do you have at least one year of full time and continuous work experience in a single skilled NOC?

Thanks for asking! My NOC is 4012 and I finish my 1-year continuous work experience next month. Using the CRS tool, my EE score is estimated to be around 515.

515 is a very good score. I assume you have a PhD and/or are fluent in French?

Thanks! I have a Canadian master's degree, but I work for a US employer, which is why it seems like the FSW is my only chance? I am concerned that there has been no draw for a while..

Your score seems a bit on the high side. Make sure you aren't claiming points for having a job offer. Without knowing your full details, I would expect your score to be somewhere in the 400's (not 500's).

There has been no FSW draw this year. We don't know when they will resume.

Given you're working for a US employer, CEC isn't an option. I don't believe Ontario PNP is an option either since your occupation is not in demand.

I think you need to hope that FSW draws resume and/or look to switch to an employer in Canada.

FYI - You only get points for relatives if you have a sibling (i.e. brother or sister) who is a Canadian citizen or PR and is living in Canada at this time.
