Foreign Service - Strike?

My wife's case is being handled in Singapore, which is not on strike, but her medical information is being sent to Manila. Does anyone know if the medical section in Manila is still functioning? Or will we be waiting until the strike ends? Thanks!

I have heard that the Singaporean embassy are on strike too.. Only very limited people are working.. However, read in the news that the one in Manila are actually working to provide consistent service.. I have just been reading the threads and news online.. So, can't confirm anything though..

yeah canada embassy manila is on a record breaking streak since the start of the strike .. they recently issued so many visa including my wife's im a january applicant whole application process took 9 months 1 week total ..

Heh, CIC and Canadian gov't say that it's normal for them to shift around employees in the summer months to focus on temporary visa's instead of PR apps.. yet stage 1 approval time has gone from 6 months to 10 months.. no correlation? How stupid do they think the public is.

It's a shame that nobody really cares about this strike though, aside from the people who are applying for PR.

Honestly, I feel that part of the reason nobody cares is that many Canadians are somewhat against immigration (though they would never say it). They look at their "annoying immigrant" neighbours or cite examples of 10 families living in the same house who don't take care of their lawn, and then use that to justify to themselves that perhaps Canada doesn't need more immigrants.

That logic of course is flawed on a number of levels, and certainly extremely prejudiced, but due to the lack of attention/caring there is on this topic, I can only feel this might be part of it..

Sure.. I am actually applying through Spore VO but our medical goes through Manila to Spore. I am not sure why but yeah.. And my medical representative here actually missed out something when sending my documents to Manila and the responds from Manila came in very quick.. So that is what I meant earlier..
